Need help with Event Priority and Pixel Movement

I have a plugin (Galv Pixel Move) that adds pixel movement to my game. I want to have interactable npc events using the 'Action Button' trigger, while keeping them on the 'Same as Character' priority. The issue with this is, as I have discovered, while the player is standing on top of the tile occupied by an event with the 'Same as Character' priority, they cannot trigger the event. This results in the player having to position themselves in a precise location just to trigger the event, which looks and feels weird.

With other priorities, the artwork is either forced underneath or over the character. I want the artwork to act like it does with the 'Same as Character' priority, while still allowing the trigger to be activated while the player occupies the same tile.

Actually I figured it out using control variables tracking the Y value of the player and npc, and changing the event priority depending on whether the player Y is greater or lesser than the event Y

Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
