I have a skill that does damage 8 times however the animation also plays 8 times, I want the animation to only play once and the damage to happen 8 times.
What about using a common event to display the animation if a certain switch is off, then turn the switch on after the first animation is played? You can then use a troop event to turn the switch off at the beginning of each turn (this should also turn the switch off at the beginning of each battle if it was still on from the previous battle).

Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
