Okay sweetie! :kaoluv: Just a short list of what I like in a game:

-sexy beefcake guys in risky situations :wub
-snazzy, outrageous, surprising dialogue
-when the game leaves me hanging (like, I have a task but then something else comes along)
-REAL FRICKIN' STRANGE MYSTERY à la Gene Wolfe or summat :kaojoy:
-boobs (don't have to be naked boobs but it's a bonus) :wub
-adorable portraits with smiles that make my chest cramp
-secret rooms
-secret passages that cut back to somewhere I've been before in a satisfying way
-naked knights with lovely hair :kaoluv:
-flowers

Hope that helps! :kaoluv:

I'm not really sure what to post back to you.

Do you mean in reference to the game you're making, or just in general? What I like in games tends to vary depending on game or even genre.

If it's a "psychological" game, then I mostly only really care that the gameplay itself is compelling and that there are "actual answers" rather than "make up your own answers". I know a lot of people tell you that "your imagination is scarier, and leave it up in the air", but I beg to disagree most of the time. You have to EARN that with a story, and if you DON'T earn it, then it feels very terrible to the player.

You need to answer enough questions for the player that it feels satisfactory. If you can't or don't, then it hurts the experience.

But, that's why it tends to be difficult to do "psychological" games very well.

Like, if you look at a game like YIIK, it does "psychological", but it basically answers very little, does a lot of butt-pulling for plot and contrivances, and in the end, the moral is "the main character is a complete reprobate who never learned he was". Not very satisfying. I don't even think there's an ending where the main character pulls a Scott Pilgrim and "learns the power of self-respect" or even "learns the power of not being a self-centered a-hole".

It is what it is.

It's difficult to write a Psychological game.

Some of the best psych games Ive played make you completely lost in the beginning and just give you enough story to make you want to continue until you finally piece it all together

Don't hold back. If you're ever thinking ''No, I cant have this in the game. It's too much'' that is prolly a great idea xD

We, as players, are best served if the dev made the game he/she always wanted to play.

Eventually the dev finds his/her public, or his/her public finds the dev. You always share the same taste with a lot of other people.

One thing is clear however: You much probably will best do what you most like, since this is in what you have the most knowledge on.

I agree, It's best to make the game you want to make rather than to make a game that appeals to a random fistful of strangers. A lot of people like a lot of very different things and it's impossible to make a game everyone likes. :rhappy:

Though I guess in a Phycological game context, I like when that content is handled with care. Don't throw in stuff like Mental Illness, abuse, or whatever for shock value. Those are very real things that real people live through everyday.

about this argument. I expressed myself badly, I did it on my own, my English was mixed with Google Translate. And I believe chatGPT didn't even exist in 2016
