Greetings to everyone first off. I am new to both RPGMaker MV and also to PVMAKER resource packs. They look awesome by the way. Great investment IMHO. Being a complete newb to all this I have, what I can only assume, is probably a basic question. Let me start by saying I sought and watched video tutorials, read the help's and read-me's and searched the forum for a while, but either could not locate the answers I seek or could not fathom the information I found. I apologize if I am not posting in the proper section or more likely asking a question already answered numerous times... Anyways...

I am working on my first RMMV game and trying to use recently purchased PVM resources but have not gotten very far before running into my first snag having to do with "enemies" resources. I am trying to create a new enemy with the new resources from Medieval Dungeons and/or Medieval Bosses but I can not seem to select an image from the resource manager tool for use in the enemy tab within the database editor. Can anyone tell me which file I should select as the image in the enemy creation tab? Nothing seems to work properly because of size or there being multiple images/sheets, etc. At this point I am wondering if I am supposed to create these images myself by editing one of the monster image files manually and then selecting that, or if I am missing some step(s) entirely.

I appreciate any and all information on this and again please accept my apologies in advance if I am being a complete dumbass about the use of these resource packs or the use of the forums.

You need to import the image you want either by copying the file into the img/enemies directory inside of your project or through the resource manager. I'm not sure what's in those packs, so the format of the enemy you want might be just part of a sprite sheet. You will need an image file that has only one enemy picture on it, or you will need to edit the file yourself to crop the others out. Unless you use a plugin like Yanfly's Animated Sideview Enemies you will be stuck with a static image. From the DLC I got with the humble bundle, it looks like the animation sheets might not be laid out even with that plugin to function properly. But assuming you found your image, you loaded it in the enemies folder (sv_enemies if you checked sideview battles in the system part of the database) you still need to go in the database and set up a troops entry for it. Then you can call that troop to fight.

Edit: If any part of what I am saying is confusing, please let me know. I'm not great at expaining things. If I missed something obvious, then someone else will pipe in shortly.

As compensation for my subpar skills:

Thanks, I had a feeling it would involve a manual edit. I have not progressed to the point of incorporating animated enemies myself just yet. I'll be happy just getting a static image to work for the time being. I got GIMP but have not learned it as yet, and I am using Side View combat.

Thanks again,

Heya @BigDaddyEcig!

So, for animated battlers (very easy to incorporate these if you are using Yanfly's scripts, need the Core script, Battle Core script, and the SV Enemies script), what I do is just make a small 32x32 red circle image and put that in the folder to use as my placement marker in the troops tab.

If you are just going for front-view or side-view static battlers, you can either use the static monster image included with each monster (might want to scale it down to fit your particular desired resolution) or even just copy and paste a single frame of the monster from its side-view sheet and create its own little image.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? To whom ever person or persons who re-did the DS/DS+ asset packs for MV (as in, they are all 48x48, and not just x2 the pixel scale) .... THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!! XwwwwX
