I am looking for artists to provide custom resources for my games. I have too many to list here, so I will just state the groups.

I need:

- character sprites (17 PCs plus several NPCs and monsters)

- battlers for the above

- emo sets for PCs (4-5 per character)

- tilesets

- maybe some autotiles

- battlebacks (maybe - still deciding on that one)

- icons

- title page

- windowskins - tentatively filled

I'm also after someone to help me design a nice front-view battle system layout and game hud.

Resources MUST:

- be in the style of the RMXP RTP, and able to be used with the RTP without being obviously different

- be entirely your own work (or for a lower price, RTP edits) - as these will be used in commercial games, I cannot accept anything else

- not be work you have done for someone else, and not be given or sold to someone else afterwards

You will:

- be paid a previously-agreed amount on completion of your work, through Paypal

- be credited in any game that uses these resources

If you are interested, please send me a PM with links to examples of your work, details of your rates, and specify what you would like to work on and how many you would like to do, and we'll go from there.

SOME of these resources (mainly tilesets) I would like to release to the community after I am done with them. This would be with the following conditions: "Free to use in commercial and non-commercial games. Credit must be given to the original artist(s) and to Amaranth Games." If you would like to take on a commission but do NOT want any of your resources released to the community, please state this in your PM.

- if I release any resources for others to use after the games are released, the terms and conditions will state that anyone else using them for free or commercial games must also give you credit
Forgive me for saying this, but I think this line is unfair to the resource makers. This line assumes that they will sell you all of the rights to the artwork. Usually, they'll only be selling you the license to use the art and not the rights to the art, so in that case you would'nt be allowed to share the resources with anyone else, as you would only be a license holder and not the rights holder.

If you want people to sell all the rights to the art to you, then please ignore my comment! But as an Composer, I wouldn't want to sell the rights to my original work to someone and I'm sure many other Arty-farty types feel the same way!

I would just like to be able to release some of the resources to the rpg communities after some time, without having to try and track down all of the creators. They would not be released for payment, so I would not be making money from someone else's work.

In reality, any game I make is likely to be hacked and the resources shared by someone else LONG before I consider sharing them myself. I just want it to be known that I WOULD like to make them available to others at some time.

However, if anyone would be otherwise interested in this offer but that particular statement turns them off, they're welcome to state as much and I'll make sure theirs are never released.

I dunno, honestly I agree with the other guy. Saying "Oh, btw, I'm going to pay you, but then, on a later date of my choosing, I'm going to release your work for free" is a little bit of an incentive to not do the art. It's practically bypassing the artist's art. What happens if you forget who made it and decide to release it? How about someone uses the graphic and decides they didn't want to credit the original, or can't figure out who to credit so they leave the credit out? Since you released it, there'll also be legal problems if said creator finds the images floating around for free, basically like you claiming the copyright which, without expressed written permission to do so (probably a contract of some sorts?), would be illegal in itself. I dunno, though. I'm not well versed in copyright laws. I just know people have sued/had issues with less.

You're making a lot of assumptions there. Why would you think I'd forget who made it? Why would you think I'd release it if I did forget who made it? Why would you say I'm claiming copyright when I've clearly said the creator will get all credit? There are no legal issues - I've made it clear that I might like to release SOME resources for public use, and anyone providing these resources should state they don't want that to happen, or they clearly accept those terms by offering to provide those resources.

There are a lot of people here who create art for the community for free. What's wrong with asking someone to create art that will potentially be distributed to the community, but offering to pay them for it?

These replies attacking Shaz are kind of ridiculous. She is paying; the resources will be hers regardless of who makes them. That's how this stuff works in the real game development industry.

Honestly it sounds like she's being generous with the rights than she needs to be.

There isn't anything srong with it at all! But as I said in my post, your assuming that people will sell you the rights to the artwork, that gives you the right to distribute them. Under a license, you only have the right to use it in your project and have no right to re-distribute.

Additionally, your making it sound worse a lot than it is, Frieza! I'm not 'attacking' anyone! Anyway, let's not start argueing on this chaps request thread :3

No, I'm not assuming people will sell me the rights to the artwork. I am asking for people's permission to give them to the community when I'm done with them. Please stop putting words into my mouth.

Honestly, I don't intend to dominate this thread trying to justify myself to you. If you're interested in a commission, please PM me with the details. If you're not, you've said your piece, albeit on shaky assumptions. Let people decide for themselves whether they want to be paid to create resources that will potentially be released to the community later.

My mistake, it's just nothing you said about asking for permission to re-distribute their work was featured in the first post.

I'm rooting for you, Shaz! I hope you find someone wonderful to work with. :)

(And I really wish I had time for lots of commissions, but I'm just too busy to take any more of them on right now.)

Jalen's not around the forums too much (enjoying her lovely vacation), but I remember her saying she was taking commissions. So, if you need portraits or faces, she's your girl. :)

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
