I think I'll start off by stating some things; I've been working on fleshing out this game for years (roughly since 2012). I have put together teams to get tasks tackled (PAID AND NON PAID) that ultimately ended up falling apart. I am depressed about this and at my wits end. I held this project very close to my heart, and it literally HURTS experiencing my repeated failures.
So here I am once again. I throw myself at the feet of the RPG maker Gods in hopes some of you talented folk notice and your empathy spurns you toward action with the goal being profit and satisfaction of seeing a project to it's end. Let's begin with the idea of the game:
The Pitch: NeoEden Actuality is a fantasy game with hiphop elements, that twists and becomes a sci-fi fantasy mid-game. Society exists in pillars, large sky scrapers protected by force fields from the most crippling enemy of roughly half of humanity: the sun. In this world, (WARNING, RACIAL) the darker your skin tone, the greater your ability to channel Nannon (Magic basically), giving you access to higher levels of society, as well as the ability to leave the pillars and explore the world. The main protagonist, Jaye Mercer, is of darker skin, but is an invalid, labeled disabled due to his inability to channel Nannon, leaving him on the outskirts of society. Think Samurai Champloo, Boondocks, etc, meets Final Fantasy.
Sidebar: this aspect of the game is personal, and comes from the notion of darker and lighter people in global society trading places, and recreating specific events in real life (race riots, inequality, broken/biased justice systems colonialism, etc) and using them as a backdrop for the main story. Dialogue is meant to be mostly light but at times deeply thought provoking ( for examples of such usage refer to "White Man's Burden", a movie staring John Travolta and Harry Belafonte)
Personal Stance: the subject is not for the feint of heart. This game came about after noticing many years ago the lack of such characters; in manga I find people that look like me demonized, cast as crooks and villains. While I love reading, it bothered me that darker toned people weren't seen as multi dimensional human beings, limited by generic sterotyping, something I find myself eager to shift. Am I trying to be hyper political? Nah fam, I just wanna tell a dope story with a hiphop feel.
Request: I have documentation and music related to the game on a google drive I am willing to share with anyone that is interested. I have a Sound Engineer ready for voice actors, and myself doing production for it as well as writing. What I am looking for are artists (Pixel and for Character busts). The plan that I have come up with is a profit split/sharing contract in which we all work and divide the profits from merchandise associated to the game. I am a hip hop artist (www.soundcloud.com/devstructures) that does his own production pre-dominantly, and would be bringing hard copies of the game, shirts, keychains, etc, to shows as well as having an online presence. I would hope to do this game in RPG Maker MV (I've owned almost every one so far) as it has the ability to port the game to phones...my understanding consoles as well?
