New and confused

Hello. First off, where can a noobie ask super newbie questions? Google has been failing me, atrociously, so I figured it was about time to contact some real humans.


As for my level of noob-itude, I have made a simple game on RMVX Ace, and now I am aspiring to make something more complex. I can map, I can switch, I can upload assets, all of the simplest things. Scripting, haven't touched it yet. Struggling with some conditional branches at the moment. I can slap my questions here, if that is appropriate.


I have browsed the tutorials. I am not seeing any of my questions addressed. I could have missed something, as I am unfamiliar with much of the jargon used around here.

For each question you have, you can make a new topic in the support area of the maker you're using. We do not like single topics with multiple questions as that can get confusing.


That said, "browsing" tutorials is usually a waste of your time, you need to work through them to really learn the engine. And yes, that does take more time - usually about a month only to learn the basics. You can follow the link to the "starting point" in my signature to check if you really got the most important tutorials.

I'm glad you decided to come get help from real people - it is worlds more useful than just browsing the web looking for answers to problems kind of like your own. It's a really helpful and supportive community and I think you will get all the help you need here

Heya, welcome to the forums.


As others have pointed out, take a glance at the tutorial section and when you're at a point that you need help look at the layout of the subforums. For help with the maker itself, you should try and look through the "engine" subforum that you're using and see if it's been answered. If not, make a good subject about your problem and I'm sure you'll get support.


For non technical questions, you'll want to look through the other subforums. Pay attention to the forum rules that are stickied in each area as they not only cover some actual rules, but they also help a bit with understanding what content should be posted in that particular sub forum.
