Hello!
I made an account a while ago but I just got RPG maker VX ACE a few days ago.
I've been really inspired by some games made by Mogeko/Deep Sea Prisoner and wanted to try something similar to what they made.

Obviously not exactly the same, but I feel inspired and I hope I can actually do something with my characters.

So... I've been looking up tutorials and watching videos online about how things work.
It really is a lot of work but I'm excited!

Any tips would be nice. Or just someone to talk to would also be cool.

Regardless, thank you for reading this. I hope I can be a useful asset to the community someday.

....or just make a cool game.

Heya, welcome to the forums.

Awesome that you have some inspiration on the style/elements that you'd want in your own game :)

You're already on the right track with watching some videos and reading tutorials. The biggest, and most common, piece of advice you'll get is this.

Expect to abandon/cast away your first game.

All this means is that you're going to grow exponentially while using the engine. As you grow, you'll look back on the work you've done and want to improve the quality to meet your new standard. It's usually a LOT easier to just start over once this occurs. Otherwise you risk creating a quagmire of your work and it can completely break your spirit to keep on going.

So, try for simple and quick. The birthday bash is going on right now. Why not aim to make a 15 minute game? It might take you longer than 3 weeks, but keep plugging away at it and see what you can accomplish.

Good luck!

I agree with Zortik, though it may sound a little discouraging but it's the fact.

I too, when i started making RPG with Vx Ace 4 years ago, I kinda started small and really thought

that it was already a big deal and an accomplishment, and it is! but when I try to look back right now

I realized that I've come far.. and so far, I've made so many games that I havent released of course have

released some as well.

Here's my tiny little small advice:

Keep reaching greater heights than just a single goal and one day, you'll find yourself a master of something you love :D

Good Luck by the way ;)

Welcome and good luck playing around in VX ace!

As long as you keep building and working in games, you will improve. One day you may just inspire someone else.

Welcome! I second (third?) The words of the ones before me. You'll scrap most of your beginning stuff.

I started out making horror games, all those were scrapped.

I then moved onto RPGs, which, while the game idea/story hasn't been scrapped, I've deleted and postponed development twice. I started working on it again recentlt, actually. Third times the charm, eh?

I've barely had anything actually completed without being scrapped over the course of the five years I've been using RPGM, so be prepared and don't feel bad for doing it ;)

Yay, now back in action Happy Christmas time, coming back!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...

Kind of gives a very different feel. :LZSexcite:
To whom ever person or persons who re-did the DS/DS+ asset packs for MV (as in, they are all 48x48, and not just x2 the pixel scale) .... THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!! XwwwwX
