I want the game to start on a Quake I style episode select. Standard game, the gate to the expansion is sealed off. Having them both seperately wouldn't work.

Actually that sounds like it'd work fine, if you can select the expansions from the start of new game + that is.

if expansion have different story. why not making it POST GAME content instead NEW GAME + content.

basically post game content just let us continue after beating final boss. it would be better than redoing all the story from the start.

NG+ only if you have lots of multiple endings or multiple characters with different perspective of the story. so they can go back to start and choose different choice.

also being too OP at the start of the NG+ will make player bored to death.

Because I don't want to shove such things like the expansion down the player's throat, and yet, I don't think I can properly manage two different versions of this project at once. Boo.

Could possibly add harder enemies to NG+ to balance it out.

I go along with estriole; when starting a NG+and being totally OP there was basically little or no interest unless there were multiple paths so that I could choose a different one to my original.  I've also played one where completing the game I could restart with a different selection of party members and have them at the beginning, rather than joining me at various stages.  Again it gave the opportunity for exploring a whole new strategy.  Just having new, tougher areas to work my way through wasn't, for me at any rate, sufficient to outweigh the tedium of the rest.

This is basically what I came in to say. A post game expansion can be fun, but NG+ isn't really needed unless you can make different choices and experience the game differently the second time around.

it's more difficult to set NG+ than giving post game content.

post game content could use ANOTHER NEW set of map.

while NG+ force you to use existing map.

YOU CAN use another map but you need to include your transfer event with condition to check whether the player currently in NG+ or regular game.

if NG+ transfer to map with harder enemy. if regular game transfer map with normal enemy.

so it's basically the term managing two different version of the game is more suited to NG+ method. while Post game content could be ADDTION from the main story.

some illustration:

NG+ concept:

Plot A            + Plot B           + etc

OR

Plot A(NG+)   + Plot B(NG+) + etc

Post game concept:

Plot A + Plot B + Plot C(Post Game content)

just some suggestion. the decision still yours :D .

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
