As with the other currently used prefixes for file types when creating/using character sprite sheets. ($, !) I would like to suggest adding another for using "Tileset" sized single non-animated sprites.

Currently when you go to select a sprite for an event, you see the a-z 8 character sprite sheets listed, then the ! starting ones, then $, and then finally the current tilesets B, C ,D and E sheets.

The size and format of those final tileset sheets are what I am talking about. I would love to see a way to add something like. %, @ or & to a filename to have it read as a tile sheet for the purpose of event sprites. This way, even while allowed to use 4 rather large B,C,D,E sprite sheets from the current tileset, you may want to be able to use more items as well to decorate your maps. But to do that currently you need to convert those sheets to "Character" sheets. It takes a long while to get all the spacing right, add three versions of the same tile for each "step" even though you don't plan to animate the thing, and all that jazz and in the end you can only fit 8 items on each sheet, because of steps and facing.

It would make life a whole lot easier if we could just drop a tilesheet into the Character folder with all the Item and Objects we may use in the game on all maps regardless of tilesets on those maps.

It would allow you to have access to 256 non-animated sprites for map objects in one sheet.

Compared to the 8 animated objects for ! files, this would be awesome to see.

Two days ago I really wanted this, and then I realized I could just put all my objects on the same $ sheet and then click "direction fix" on the event page. Then it doesn't animate and I can still select whatever frame I want to use.
It'd be handy to have as a shorthand though.

I don't think I'm understanding. It sounds like you want to use tilesheets as event graphics. And you can already do that. What am I missing?

Oh wait! Do you mean, so that you can use tilesheets that are not in the current map's tileset?

Nah, I think they're talking about just using sprites as mapping pieces, which is already a function and has been since 2K.

As ashikai already said, there's a choice when making an event that allows you to have it not animate at all. Fix Direction. Viola.

You can already use tileset pieces as events, as stated above. Using spritesheets for this can add new level of animations, since some bushes can be animated (Direction Fix, Stepping ON).

The only thing extra I can see is using tilesets as events that weren't choose for the map in question. Doesnt have the program right now, but think you can't use a tileset sheet that you haven't applied to the map (using an Outside tileset while owkring on a Dungeon tileset map).

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
