RPG Maker Forums

Hi, I picked up VXAce through the recent Steam Sale. I've wanted to make a game for a while but the groups I've joined up with through hte Unity forums haven't amounted to much yet.

I already have the idea for a game, but to be honest I'm trying to figure out just what might be possible with this. Spent some time going through all the custom scripts and such and have a few ideas, but still wondering if I'm missing something and not quite sure where to ask.

I want to do a space based combat game with a forward looking system for ship combat and tactical for ground. My idea is to break up the ships into different 'enemies' so that different components are targetable, and then combine it into one troop. I know from the tutorials I can move the individual units around so it would just be a matter of lining things up. My first real question is is there a way for one actor, either in the player's party or the enemy troop, cause status effects on the rest of their side based on their current status? If one piece was knocked out, could that immedately give a debuff to the rest of the side for the rest of the battle?

I'm also wondering if there is a way to have more then one life counter per character, like a shield and then hull count. Could it be made so that a party member cant actually attack, but only effect the player's party?

For the moment the answers to these will determine how I design the game, so any help finding answers to them would help.

On my journey of character rework: I had this character, she was meant to be just a princess that joins your party. And at long term she was just uninteresting... So I tweaked her to be a rebel agaisn't the royalty before meeting up with the party.
