I had a game where RTP was required to make the game function, after changing my BIOS for my UEFI settings the rtp doesn't seem to work anymore. To test my theory I have the game Ib it was required to have RPGM 2003 RTP but to test my theory I had to delete the RTP and the game was functioning for some reason. Even before when I had the RTP installed for VX ACE an error said this "missing file Audio/SE/cursor1" I don't know how this is happening.

Is this a game you are making or playing?

So if I understand correctly, you were able to run the game perfectly fine after deleting the RTP. Is that right?

My instinct would be that you had a corrupt version of the RTP in the first place that the program looked (which is why you got the "missing file" message rather than something that said it couldn't find the RTP), and once you deleted that, the program looked somewhere else on your computer (maybe in your Program Files or your My Documents folder) and found a good version of the RTP that it was able to use to run the game.

No, and I'll try to use your games to prove something.
By the way, I use vgperson's site to get these games.

1. Yes
2. I'll reply again to you if something happens (might take a long time, but thanks anyway)

Note: I also updated my BIOS on UEFI with the RTPs installed.

@DaFint Please do not double post (posting directly after yourself, unless the two posts are at least 72 hours apart). You can reply to multiple people in a single post by using the "+ Quote" action near the bottom-right of their messages, and then choosing the "Insert Quotes" button below the box where you type stuff in. I've merged your posts together for you this time.

Glad you were able to get the game working, at any rate! :)

Your post is very confusing. Are you talking about 2003 or Ace? Is this a game you are making, or is it a game someone else made that you are trying to play? Who is "vgperson's site"? Can you provide a link? And can you provide the names of the games you're trying to play (links to those too if possible)

I don't know about 2K3, but with Ace when you deploy a game you have the choice of including the RTP or excluding it. If you include it, it means a larger game file for players to download, but they have everything needed and don't have to download the RTP. If you exclude it, it means a smaller game file to download, but players have to download and install the RTP separately. AND if the developer made any changes to the RTP, they would NOT be available to players if they exclude the RTP when they build.

Please don't post polls like the one in this thread when you ask for support. It has no purpose at all.

Note: I also updated my BIOS on UEFI with the RTPs installed.
1) the BIOS has absolutely nothing to do with the RTPs, and anyone who told you otherwise has absolutely no idea of what he's talking about.

2) RTP is short for Run Time Package, and it means a package of resources required by the game.
That package is different for different makers - Ace-RTP is something other than 2003-RTP for example.
All official RTPs can be downloaded through the download links top right, and they can all be installed at the same time without problems.

3) to help you, you need to tell us which games and which RTPs you're talking about, preferably with links.
However, be warned that the older 2K(3) makers have been excessively pirated and that the different pirated RTPs are incompatible to each other as well as to the official RTP. And if you have games created by one of the pirated versions you'll be on your own to find a solution (and depending on what idiot used which pirated version there might be no solution at all, because any change to the RTP would destroy all compatibility as said above)

Well, I'm very new to this, and now realized that it affected ALL versions of RPGMaker from 2000 to VX ACE. Since this is ACE Support I'll talk about the problem using that version.

I have this "( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) game" where it says missing file I have to copy and paste the all Audio, graphics, and the .dll files from the RTP to the game's folders. This is the only thing I can do just for the games to work at the moment, but it's annoying knowing how the RTP is supposed to work (I downloaded the official RTP, just so you know)

It is my first time asking on a forum so I'm a little anxious. Hopefully people can understand my situation better now.

That just means you don't have the RTP installed.

And it can't be the same problem affecting ALL versions, because they all have different RTPs.

Unless when you were mucking around with your BIOS, you managed to rename your drive(s) - so where you installed all the RTPs is no longer the same path name? If that's the case, you should just be able to redownload and reinstall them.

I have to copy and paste the al
if you have to copy those files, then the RTP is not correctly installed.
Since everyone else can install the RTP and have it work correctly, it is either something wrong in the way you try to install the RTP or there is something wrong on your computer.
But in both cases the error is on your end and not a general problem.

and based on the fact that your descriptions throw in things that have nothing to do with the problem, in my opinion you created bugs in your computer by messing up its settings and now have no longer an idea of where you messed up your computer.

please describe in detail what exactly you did when you tried to install the RTP (which NEVER involves manual copying) and what error messages you got, and what games you tried to play (there is a chance that the game itself is damaged, but we can't test that without you giving us links to the games in question)

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
