Amazing news! Instant buy for me!

Because not everyone likes (or wants to use) the default style? RPGMaker exposes the ability to edit and import your own tilesets for just this reason: Variety.
I'd also hazard a guess that if no one wanted or bought these packs, they wouldn't keep releasing them - its generally a good business practice to release things your customers want.

What issue are you experiencing specifically, Xaaska?
You might need to put a $ symbol in front of the file name for the character. RPG Maker by default assumes all sprite sheets have 8 characters on them. Sprite sheets with a single character need to have a $ in the front of their name so RPG Maker knows it is a single character.

To use the sprite sheets with more frames of animation, you will need to utilize a plug-in. You can find some great ones compiled HERE. Just be sure to follow the set up directions for whatever plug-ins you decide to use! :)
