RPG Maker Forums

So, out of curiosity, I was looking at RPG Maker release dates and I think we might be due a new entry sometime soon. There seems to be a new version of RPG Maker ever 3 or 4 years, assuming the dates I found are accurate:

RPG Maker 95 - Released March 1997 (I'm assuming the 95 refers to the Windows 95 operating system rather than the release year)
RPG Maker 2000 - Released April 2000
RPG Maker 2003 - Released May 2002
RPG Maker XP - Released July 2004
RPG Maker VX - Released December 2007
RPG Maker VX Ace - Released December 2011
RPG Maker MV - Released December 2015

If the trend continued, we could reasonably expect to see a new RPG Maker sometime in 2019. Now, it can be argued that 2003 was just an upgrade of 2000, likewise VX Ace is just a beefed up VX so maybe this will be an improved MV rather than a completely new entry but even so I'll be keeping my eyes open.

Do you think there's anything to this or is it just wild baseless speculation?

Also, what would you guys like to see? Personally, my wishlist would be:
  • Publish games to PS4, Xbox One, and Switch in addition to the current options
  • Default game resolution to be 16:9
  • Native support for parallax mapping and fogs so we're not reliant on community-made solutions for these anymore
  • The return of XP's three layered manual mapping rather than this awkward predictive stuff
  • Maybe some neat Mode 7 or line scrolling effects

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
