Hello all. I'm new to the entirety of RPG Maker but I purchase VX Ace back when it first came out with the dream of creating my own game when I finally had an idea solid enough for one. Now, seeing all of the different kinds of games that are being made using the program and so on, I'm here to ask if it is possible to create a game that is a tile-based/turn-based RPG? The idea I have is inspired by a PS1 game called "Brigandine: The Legend of Forsena" and I would like to begin work on it as soon as possible. So along with my previous question (assuming the answer to it is "yes." If not, disregard the following); is there a way to turn basic square tiles into hexagons on VX Ace? Could I make a basic large map with multiple cities that are able to be selected and link to another map source for a battleground? (again, if you have no idea what I'm talking about, please just go take a ten minute look at the game I mentioned earlier, Brigandine: Legend of Forsena) On this large map could I actually make a cursor to use to select the cities? The only experience I have with RPG Maker is a game I toyed around with making on one of the older versions. I will go through tutorials for using the software, and I'm not trying to get a complete schooling session here. Just some basic tips and answers to my questions (maybe a link to a tutorial for a couple of things if possible) so I can get some assurance before I begin scrounging the internet for bits and pieces of information for my own game inspired by a game of relatively low popularity. I apologize for the book I'm writing, but I'm trying to make this as detailed as possible so anyone who takes the time to read it will hopefully have most of their questions answered. Either way, thank you and I look forward to begin working with the software.
