Just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.  Been playing RPGs since the 80s.  Fell in love with RPGs as a kid playing The Bard's Tale and Legacy of the Ancients, and Wasteland, to name a few.

Used to be hardcore in the Commodore/Amiga scene back in the 80s and early to mid 90s as a gamer.  Only dabbled in RPGs and games over the past two decades playing some of the larger titles like the Fallout Series.

The RPGs made on RPG Maker remind me a little of the golden days for gaming in my life... the 80s and 90s.

I decided it would be fun to make some simple RPGs and personalize them for the grand kids... they will be Christmas presents in 2016.  I have just a little under 1 year to figure this engine out and produce some RPGs for the kids.  Wish me luck!  My only programming experience is BASIC on a C64 back in the mid 80s.

Welcome to the community! There are tons of friendly and helpful faces around here who are also passionate about RPGs!
RPG Maker is really fun to learn and use. Be sure to check out the Help File (F1) in the maker and there's a great list of tutorials and information here. Once you get the hang of it there are tons of things you can do!
Can't wait to see what kind of games you create! :)

Hello and welcome!!

I am also a big 90s era fan. What is your favorite game or series?

A unique game made for your grandchildren sounds like a lovely gift! I wish you the best of luck

Heya, welcome to the forums!

No idea how grand of a scope you'll have for the game(s) you have in mind, but I certainly hope you can accomplish your goals. Maybe shoot for having them completed by Halloween? So you can have a month of testing and polishing :)
You could even go to a local printer company and have them make you a game case. Burn your game to a dvd and you can wrap it up like the real deal.

From the 90s I was probably most into Fallout and Ultima Online.   But then I can't forget the Baldur's Gate games... those were lots of fun.

Going back into the 80s it was Legacy of the Ancients, The Legend of Black Silver, Questron II, Wasteland...    Never played an Ultima game until I got into Ultima Online, which is odd since three of the 80s games above were considered in many ways 'clones' of the early Ultima games.  I still play some of those old games on a C64 emulator.

Don't forget, aspiring writers: Personality isn't what your characters do, it is WHY they do it.
Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
The biggest debate we need to complete on which is better, Waffles or Pancakes?
