    What's behind that door? Trick or Threat?
    Night of the Living Harolds is a short game-clicker-quick time event-rpg-hybrid-thing, that features a 10 floors dungeon exploring with Therese as protagonist, trying to save herself and her friend Harold from the curse of an Ancient Pharaoh Overlord. Open doors, defeat monsters, collect gold, empower Therese, avoid hurting Harold and most importantly: Click, Click, Click!

    The game is part of Angoraverse, a fictional universe I created for my games.

    FEATURES

    • Fully customized Battle System that involves both Clicking and Quicktime-Eventing.
    • 10 Dungeon floors with 12 randomized doors each.
    • Every randomized door might have 1 out of 8 different effects.
    • Various enemies to defeat and a boss.
    • It's possible to power up Therese using the Shopkeeper or the Shrines in the doors (for gold).
    • You can throw jerkys at Harold in the game and he will always catch them! That's totally a feature!
    • Overused Emotion Balloon Icons (like the previous game!)
    • Short and silly storyline with a few dark twists.
    GAME LENGTH
    • Around 30 minutes.
    SCREENSHOTS

    HINTS
    • Be sure to read the TUTORIAL in-game, it contains a lot of useful information about how to play properly.
    COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    Are there pies in the game?
    Jerkys only to Harold's much delight, that look like shiny sparkles in-game for RTP reasons.

    @The Stranger
    Thanks a lot! Let me know what you think when you have time!
    This game contains some massive eventing and scripting and there might be a few bugs left somewhere (deadlines never forgive).

    @Uzuki
    Jerkys only to Harold's much delight (that look like shiny sparkles in-game for RTP reasons), but your question will be added in the Commonly Asked Questions anyway.

    Gave this a quick play through. Congrats on another finished game.

    I liked the humor in it, it's always good when a game can make you laugh.

    The mechanics were very unique. I really liked the concept. I think a little bit of explanation on how it works would have been nice - sat there far longer than I'd care to admit in the beginning waiting for something to happen or to be able to move a character around. Finally sorted that. :p

    Overall, an enjoyable, unique game.

    edit: Or I suppose I could have checked the tutorial I only just noticed in the first post. 'Cause I'm awesome like that.

    @Kanki
    Hey there little sis, glad you had fun with it! I'm waiting for a fan-art now.

    @mlogan
    I'm glad you enjoyed the gameplay and the humour, that's what I plan to accomplish with these games, basically make people laugh or at least smile and experiment with unusual gameplay mechanics.

    You are absolutely right about the tutorial, another user had some difficulty too understanding how the game works, haha.
    I should have implemented it in-game to make things easier for everyone, but sadly I really didn't have time because of the deadline...only 3 days really.
    It was either spending time implementing a tutorial in-game or bug-catching this whole eventing horror, and of course I preferred the latter.

    Thanks for the compliments, I'm really happy you liked this silly little game.

    edit: I removed the spoiler tag to make the Tutorial image be more obvious in my first post.

    To anyone having troubles playing:
    Please check the Tutorial Image in my first post of this thread if you are unsure about what to do. Thanks for your patience.

    Was a short and fun game!
    The only thing that felt slightly frustrating was the short delay when pushing back Zombie Harold but that was mainly an issue in my first playthrough where I didn't buy strength potions and had to click like crazy on the last floor. In my second playthrough where I spent my gold more wisely, the delay was hardly noticeable at all.

    Also, Harold is adorable. :D

    @Verdelite
    Thanks for checking it out! I'm happy you found it fun to play.

    Sadly the delay was something I was really forced to add (for animation reasons) and yes, you are supposed to power-up Therese before the final boss battle or else you are gone. The game is too hard if you don't.
    So far nobody was able to beat the final boss with only 1 point of Power, I don't think it's even possible because you need at the very least 3 points and 50 Hp (for both Therese and the Harold-s).

    Glad you liked Harold too, making him a bit childish, naive and good hearted was my goal.

    Also I noticed you have a very good looking game in your signature that I was completely unaware of, I'm curious about it and will give it a try later.

    I like to experiment with weird gameplay mechanics that usually turn into eventing and scripting horrors when you open the engine.
    And thanks! I'll gladly watch it.

    Thanks for playing Matseb! Glad you had fun!
    It was something made in 3 days but I'm satisfied with the final result anyway despite the limits and the deadline.
    Good job beating the final boss, it's certainly not easy, especially if you are unprepared.

    The wedding scene is a fear of Therese being forced to marry the Overlord (so out of the place but funny anyway).
    The whole thing was really a dream/illusion by the Overlord like you said, but as the ending shows, in some way the curse really happened even in the real world. Namumrot really takes over Harold's body.
    I had many people play this game and nobody was able to figure out how it happened in the real world too, but there is a reason and it's shown ingame.

    It's a small detail that everyone so far missed and that gives a vague idea of what might have happened.

    Thanks again for the Let's Play, I had fun watching it.

    Yeah, I can imagine if you guys had more than 3 days to make it, you'd be able to make it bigger and add more stuff to it (hint hint - Night of the Living Harolds 2 perhaps?).

    Ah, so Namumrot is practically inside Harold's body. Lol.

    Oh right. I wonder what that small detail was now. I would guess when Therese got knocked out by Namumrot at the start, everything that followed it was likely just her dream (so the nightmare of the wedding scene doesn't end there), and the whole climbing 10 floors and all being a dream too, and Namumrot only made her think she won, but in reality he was already there in the real world. Am I close?
