A lot of us are stuck at home, no travel, limited outside entertainment... it's the perfect time to make a game to take our minds off some of the other things going on in the world. This event will have two parts, the No Travel Game Jam, and the No Travel Play Jam! Let's take a closer look at each.
No Travel Game Jam
Deadline: End of April! GMT will be used for cutoff.
Engine: Any RPG Maker or VNM
Restrictions: Entire Game must take place in ONE village/town/city. All locations must be within the bounds of the town. (Dungeons can be things like abandoned factories, mansions, sewers, etc.)
With all of us staying home, it's time to brush up on those town mapping skills. All travel is banned!
Make a game using the restrictions and engines above. The game should be 30 minutes to 1 hour. This isn't hard rule, just try to hit an easy one sitting playtime. This event is Non-competitive! Everyone can and should participate, regardless of skill level. The joy is in finishing a project, you don't have to be the best. Learn and grow as a game dev by just finishing something.
Reward: All Participants who finish a game for the Jam will get a No Travel Dev Badge.
Special: Each Moderator/Admin can give a No Travel Special Badge to a game of their choice. This isn't a "best game" award, but celebrates something about the game they picked that they like. Examples, things like "Quirkiest Character" or "3 Cuils" (these are not necessarily ones that will be used, just examples!)
No Travel Play Jam
Deadline: End of May! GMT will be used for cutoff
Play and write reviews for games from the No Travel Game Jam! Reviews should take up to the first hour of gameplay into account. Tell the dev what you liked, what you didn't, and how you think the game should be improved! Remember, constructive criticism is the name of the game. Make sure that your review is giving actionable advice. Each review should be at least 300 words. Really give them something they can work with to make their game better!
Reward: Anyone who reviews at least 3 games from the jam will get the No Travel Review Badge!
