No walking animation. Movement on overworld frozen.

Hi guys. I've had an issue with the movement in my game for a while and I can't seem to fix it.

I've made a slidey ice puzzle with slippery tiles. The player is supposed to slide along them with no walking animation. This all works fine, except that now the walking animation isn't shown anywhere, and movement is completely frozen on the overworld.

The script I used is attached.

And here is where I've tagged slippery tiles.

Any ideas? I guess it's something to do with the script attempting to run at all times.

Can we see the map and any associated events on it?

If all movement is frozen then it is likely to be an auto run event still running somewhere.  If the player can still turn, but not move, then it's a passability issue.  Can the player turn?

If I understand it correctly, then the movement is there, just only not animated.

If that is the case, it's something in the script that is broken, because that script should only prevent the animation when sliding on a slippery tile, not on regular movement.

Please post a LINK to the page where you got it from - it looks like one of yanfly's scripts, and in that case the instructions there and perhaps the patches are needed.

That's one of the many reasons why we don't want scripts attached or posted here, we want links to the original posting of the scripts.

EDIT:

And I suggest that you read this:

http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/40589-how-to-use-a-script/

because you have made one of the biggest mistakes one can do for using scripts and for bughunting: you cut away part of the script.

Please test again with the original script (which has 248 lines) instead of your partial script of 195 lines.

Because even if you "only" removed comment lines (and you removed at least two command lines as well), it makes comparison of line numbers in bughunting impossible.

Either the script or an event turned off walking animation for the player, if an event did it then you should just need to re-enable walking animation in a move route event for the player.

I've moved this thread to RGSSx Script Support. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

When you need help with scripts, please post a LINK to the script on the author's site (where they introduce the script, give screenshots, examples, etc). Do not paste the script into your post or attach it. There are a number of reasons for this which I won't list.

Thanks for all the help guys. My apologies, here is the link to the original script - https://yanflychannel.wordpress.com/rmvxa/field-scripts/slippery-tiles/

I have re-pasted in the script, as per your suggestion Andar, and the walking animation is now working fine, and so is the sliding.

My only problem now is I still have no movement on the overworld. There is no turning either so I guess it's an auto running issue. I don't believe I have any events running on the overworld. It seemed to happen after I started using that script.

Here is the project file - https://www.dropbox.com/s/wxom9e5jjkou1hf/Project1.zip?dl=0

Event #41 Orenn Bridge is on autorun.

I changed it to player touch, put the start player position on that map and he walks.  I can confirm it's that event because I tried the player there before looking around and it was frozen.

EDIT

I thought it was worth mentioning that when debugging, you have to check every event.  In this instance you thought you had no autorun events on that map and so you didn't check them.  In all probability you never intended setting that event to autorun, but it is very easy to click the wrong setting.  One reason why debugging can take so long is the necessity to check everything, including all the things that you're convinced (before looking) are not a problem.

Sorted, that's awesome thank you.

I should have checked all of the events. It seemed to happen just after I'd added the puzzle so I assumed that was the issue. I'll make sure I check all the events in a map going forward.

Thanks a lot for the help!
