Non-Steam RPG Maker linked on to steam: Can I use Steam Resources?

So I've owned my physical copy of RPG Maker VXAce for over a year now (1 year + several months, getting close to 2 years). And I recently learned that Steam has a copy of the same product, and even deals with the various Resource Packs as "DLC." Well, I figured out that Steam lets you register Non-Steam games onto your account, and after a quick check, I was able to register my copy of Ace on there.

Now, here's my question: Before when I tried to put Resource Packs into my Shopping Cart, it said that an error occurred (because you can only purchase them if you own a copy on Steam) but after registering my copy, it let me add Resource Packs to my Shopping Cart. So does this mean that I will be able to use those resource packs with my copy now, or did I stumble upon a glitch in the Steam's Account system? I don't want to purchase anything until I am sure that I won't cause any problems/crashes with my game, and that I can actually use the product once purchased. Is there anyone who knows the answer to this? Thank you in advance! ^owo

RMMV
The only requirement to using Steam DLC is that you have a Steam version of Ace. If you were able to get Steam to recognize your copy of Ace, I think you should be right.

I do know that it won't let you download a resource pack if you don't have the Steam version. I'm not sure if it will stop you from actually purchasing it though (maybe you don't own the Steam copy of Ace but want to get the resource pack as a gift for someone). Maybe you could purchase the cheapest one as a test.

Depends on how safe you feel doing it. I ended up just buying another copy off bundlestars because it was on for a great deal, just because I'm a lazy butt, so there's always that option. :/

You don't have to own RM to buy any of the DLC, but you can't download them or get to them in any way unless you own a copy of the Steam version of RM.  Linking your non-Steam version to Steam won't work, there are some slight differences to the versions.  One of those differences make it so that Ace will download the DLC.  You have to open the Steam copy to get that download to happen.  So, sorry, it doesn't work.

Hi! It may have been awhile and I'm not sure if you've gotten any DLC yet, but there's a sale on bundlestars for RPG Maker VX Ace and several DLC's for $8 or so. Hopefully this helps you, or at least anyone who sees this before the sale is over!

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
