This is setup similar to the "old", original RPG maker, but I don't remember a third opacity setting/what it entails. I am ofcourse talking about the star icon, is it for airship only or what?

Speaking of which, is there a way to fully customize vehicles, and how they interact(or not)with a given tile type. In short, can you use mapping code to customize all that, if so, can someone post an example of the layout, for the RGGs script that RPG maker uses for defining tiles(also I'm pretty sure I'm gonna want to make custom chipsets, so this is gonna be a must, the last thing I need, is a boat not working on custom made water for example, because the boat doesn't recognize it as water)?

The star icon has nothing to do with opacity, it's a passability setting.

Two things about it.  The very top left corner tile of Tab B must always be set with a star and no graphic.  Changing that will mean that all your passability settings are messed up big time.  The second thing is using it elsewhere.  The O setting means that you can walk on a tile; the X setting means that you can't.  The star setting puts the tile 'above' the character, so you can e.g. walk behind it (if it is, for example, a piece of furniture, a large crate, whatever) or under it (e.g. for a 'bridge' that you walk under).

You don't define which tiles have which setting using a script, but by using the settings in the database.  Click 'tilesets' and on the right you can see the various settings you can choose for any particular set of tiles.  As for 'custom' water, water can only be put in a specific place on A1, and so the boat will always recognise it.  Different tiles have to go in different places and A tab tiles are not the same as B-E tiles.

Could I suggest you have a look at Andar's excellent thread where he has collected a lot of stuff which new people will find helpful.  You can find it here: http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/14727-a-starting-point-for-new-users-v08/?hl=+starting%20+point%20+users.  Spending a little time now going through this stuff will save you a massive amount of time in the future.

Yea ofcourse, I know what X, and O are for, that's why I naturally figured the star icon was another opacity setting.

There's some interesting options there, but all those options just deal with the char, and how the char will interact with any given tile, I see no settings what so ever to define how a Vehicle interacts with a tile.  Also It's not just boat-water issue either(although from what you said, does that mean I can drop a custom water tile in that folder, and it would register as water? ), what if I wanted to make 2 airships, a low flying one, and a high flying one, ect you get the idea.

Ok cool thanks, I'll check it out.

Edit: That's good advice in there, but I pretty much know all that, I'm new to RPG Maker VX Ace, not making games in general(I even helped a few developers in making games on Byond) or even RPG maker(although granted the last RPG maker I used was a really old one, but still).

I love the first statement in his post, It's more or less what everyone who's helping out someone thinking about getting into game development. It's funny how many new people don't realize how hard/time consuming such can be. Even with a program like RPG Maker, that has many actions tied to commands, thus doing away with the need to manually code such, if you don't string the commands together properly or don't pay attention to the details of what needs to take play for X action/event, it will either not work properly at all or be sloppy as hell.

Like I said, it is not an opacity setting, it is a passability one.

And yes, if you format it correctly, you can put a custom water tile into Tab A.  From what little I know of the really old versions of rpg maker, you import resources differently with Ace, so you may want to check that out before trying it.

Yea

Ok thanks, I figured as much, and yea I'll definitely look into how to create custom tiles for RPG Maker VX Ace(as well as how the before mentioned file is setup), before I screw around with things like that(because if you don't know what you're doing, changing things like that could really screwup the map editor).

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
