    Hi, beginner here!

I was wondering if there's anyway to make anything fade out except the player. I mean, slowly tint everything in the screen black except the player. Any ideas?

You can always make a spare map with standard background (the black tile) and teleport the player there :)

But doing so wouldn't be a fade out. Everything would simply turn black instantly. Or is there any way to make a map crossfade into another?

    Thanks for your answer!

I think they meant start the fade out then transfer player to map with all blackness then fade in. It wouldn't work exactly how you want but pretty close.

Mmh, I don't think that will work out. If I fade out and then transfer the player then fade in, the player will also be darkened during a lot of frames, which is kinda weird.

@JogabbaWell then I THINK with terrax lighting you could do this. You would have to figure out exactly how much light would be needed for the player and hook the light to an event to activate when you want. Also it's a good plugin to have for basic lighting in mv

Oh, thank you! Yeah, that might be useful. I'll give it a try and post the results later!

    I am with @gomiamiheat

You could find a light script and adjust the settings for the player to ve visible. I think @Khas awesome light effects could work. Don't know about another option.

But I don't think @Jogabba option was a bad idea. You fade to black all the screen, and then make the character reapear. You can attach this effect with a dramatic sound. Could be even more strong visual narrative, don't know.

I think I did something similar on 2k once.

I used an image of the player sprite, using variables to set it right above the actual sprite, then tinted the screen black, the image did not tint.

Then teleported to a map with a black background (set it to not have a fade) and removed the tint.
