Hello! Sorry for bothering everyone with questions! I am having problem with adding party members. Or rather, adding them to battle. In the Event, I made it so two actors gets added to the part but they seem a bit faded out in the pause-menu section. If I go to battle, they aren't in there at all.

I have been adding Yanfly scripts such as Visual Battlers, Party System, ect..

I don't know if this is a script problem or an Event problem.

For the Event, all I did was "Change Party Member: Add Actor2"

since I was having issues with this, I even went as far as to click "Initialize"

At the very least, since I was having trouble finding things only for VX Ace, I was wondering if anybody might know of this problem or maybe a potential script that can clear this up?

Seriously, though. I would be really appreciative! I'm not good with scripts on my own, at least, not with Ruby. I'm still learning as I go.

That is usually the wrong option, because it resets the actor to database values and should only be used at the very first adding.

Your problem is in another area. If you were using the default battlesystem without any script, your idea would work perfectly.
However if you change the battlesystem, a lot of the battlescripts add new data to the battlers. But they do that only on the battlesetup, which means that any actor added later is missing that new data. And that is what makes the summon fail, either by not appearing or by crashing the battle depending on what battlesystem you're using.

The only solution is to replace the regular change member command with a summon script specifically written for the battlesystem you're using, because only then the missing data is correctly added by the summon script - no summon script can add data for a battlesystem it doesn't know of.

And because of this we can't help you, because you didn't tell us which battlesystem you're using.
We would need to see all battlescripts you added before we can even guess which summon script might be compatible, or if you would have to request a custom summon script for your specific script combination.

So sorry! And thank you for telling me! I was using Yanfly Ace Battle System and Visual Battler which is a Sideview Battle system which I also added Vlue's 3x3 bonus formation.

These are the script list

Ace Core Engine
Ace Message System
Party System
Formation Fix
Fix to Formation Element
Ace Battle System
Visual Battler
Formation Bonus 3x3

I'm not a 100% sure what's going on. It was all working just fine or so I thought. This is the only issue I could see. It doesn't come up with error or anything like that. I just notice that the party members that I add in the events doesn't actually join in the Battle. (Although, weirdly enough they are in the Battle Formation but their names aren't in the list)

And sorry for taking so long getting back to you! Thank you again for taking the time to tell me these things!

You say they are "faded out" in the menu? How many party members do you have altogether?

The first 4 are "active" party members - they participate in battle. Any after are "reserve" party members, and will appear "faded out" in the menu, and won't appear in battle.

If you have blank spots above them in the menu, it means you have set up your starting party incorrectly.
By default, there will be 4 actors in the starting party. To remove them, you should go to the System tab where it says Starting Party, and delete them from that list. I suspect you instead went to the Actors tab and deleted the ones you didn't want in your party, and added your new members further down.

To check this, go to your Actors tab, and give every actor slot at least a name. Now go to the System tab and see if any of the new names show up in your Starting Party. If they do, that's what you've done wrong. Delete them from that list.

That is usually the wrong option, because it resets the actor to database values and should only be used at the very first adding.
I believe this IS the first time they are being added to the party, so the Initialize box SHOULD be checked.

It's only if they leave the party then rejoin later, that you don't want to check that box.

Lol! You're right! I didn't realize such a thing would be a big deal! Thank you, Shaz! As for the initialize box, I think I understand a little more now. I really just want to have fun creating a story. It truly means a lot that both you and Andar were willing to give me a helping hand with issues. Thank you both very much!

Oop! I forgot to answer these questions! Sorry! Yes, they appeared faded out, and it's as you said, they acted like reserve party members. However, I made it an 8 active party members instead of 4 because of the story. That's where the Vlue's Row Formation came in pretty handy. Lol. However, during the Event, I tried to add two others to the party that only started with one. This is actually the first time I tried to add party members by Events as I've only just started. Again, Thank you!

When you add a party member and click the Initialize box, it adds the person to your party exactly as they are set up in the Actors tab. The starting level and equipment, only skills that come at that starting level.

So if you've had someone in your party for a while and they have some equipment, have gained levels and increased stats, learned new skills, and they leave your party and come back again later, leaving that box unchecked will add them back just as they were when they left. But checking the box resets them to their very original settings in the database.

You generally only want to check the Initialize box the very first time you add them, unless there is some story-driven reason to add them back again later in the game and reset all of their progress.

I understand now. Thank you, Shaz! This is actually helpful to know!
