SUMMARY

Nusakana is an open-ended RPG, with an optional storyline and multiple ending sets in a unique tropical setting.

At first, the game is intended to be a one stop, some kind of fun game where you just fishing around the island, finding rare fishes, upgrade your fishing rod, bobbers and such.

But over the course of time, it's been expanded, with full cast of quirky characters, unique battle system, survival and crafting system, and a subtle dating simulation. We also fortunate enough to have a team of passionate people working on the three different aspect of the game ranging from art, programming, and music.

Here's a list of features that you may find in the game:
  • A warm and lighthearted story with a sprinkle of some serious plot involved later in the game.
  • Open world setting, explore the jungles and rivers of Nusakana island, whenever you like, but beware of the horror in deep jungles and caves!
  • Non-linearity, you will often find many choices that led to different consequences through the game.
  • Dynamic time and weather progression, people and wild beast all over the island react differently to different time and weather.
  • Custom turn-battle system with more than 20+ party member to recruit, each with their special and passive support skills.
  • Original custom graphics.
  • Survival system, don't forget to eat and stock your logistics before wandering around the island!
  • Crafting system.
  • Affection system, develop relationship with the people of Nusakana and your party member.
  • Dynamic fishing system, each catch have their own characteristics, statistics, and specific location.
  • Advanced mercantile system involving the traders from different countries all over the continent.

The use of magic is forbidden, especially the usage of magic as a tools of warfare, beside that, the magic user of themselves is almost extinct. Currently only the people who have the blood of Elvan in their vein, an ancient tribe who mastered the art of magic who can utilize fully the power of magic. Mana, a nature power as a catalyst for magic now is being used as an energy source for industry and transportation instead.

Countries in the main continent of Avillia, which is where Nusakana Island located nearby, have been evolved through the age and now adopted many modern government system such as republic, and federation, being the exception is? Kingdom of Kilfern, the oldest kingdom and the most influential country in the continent. They also form inter-countries parliament located in Lyra, Kilfern capital after the peace from the long great war between Kilfern and Syldaria. Nusakana is the youngest and smallest new country to join.
CHARACTERS

The Fisherman (Main Character)
This is you, the main character. He is your representation in this game universe. Why did he choose to go to Nusakana? It is entirely up to you to decide.

Riri Nanak Ogru
A runaway tomboy from San Maui who is undergoing "merantau" ritual, a coming of age ritual intended for boys of San Maui before they can be accepted as a true Silat fighter, the traditional martial arts of San Maui. Being a girl and not allowed to be a silat fighter by tradition, she rebelled against it and decided to do the ritual anyway despite her family objection. She snucked into a ship on the way to Nusakana island and meet the main character there.

Arinka Strandsen
A young and promising scientist from the kingdom of Kilfern. Arinka was sent to Nusakana island in a research mission to utilize alternative energy in Nusakana and help the natives developing their villages. However, there's many rumor floating around that the research mission is just a cover up for something more sinister for the interest of the old kingdom.

Yngwie Nirdamiere
A young man from the ousted Syldarian noble family of Nirdamiere, a descendant of the long extinct Elvan royalty who is famous for their mastery of magic. Stripped of his noble privilege by the fledgling Syldarian republic, Yngwie is being sent to Nusakana to establish the new republic embassy and represent its interest over Nusakana. Or maybe it's just an excuse to exile him from the politics in the homeland?

Aslan Attarbayev
A retired veteran soldier and mercenary hailing from the icy frontier of Aisbaijan, now turns his coat to adventuring and exploring the vast world. He arrives at Nusakana for another adventure. Aslan is fairly unknown, but when he is younger and still active in the military, he is regarded as a legendary and fearsome cavalry commander.

And many more waiting for you..

This looks beautiful! One note: The ground and the structures on it are significantly different. A smooth painted ground looks odd in contrast to a hard edges pixel tileset.

Thank you guys! I hope you enjoy playing the demo :)

Yeah, we are a bit low profile at the moment.. since we really focused on the development :p

This is not our first game, but rather the one we take seriously on developing after many of past project failures.. our programmer is also an experienced RGSS scripter and has a few RPG Maker games under his belt. :)

I'm playing this game now and I have to say, it's wonderful. The graphics are fun and so are the characters. The only thing I'd possibly have to complain about is the spelling and grammar. But otherwise, excellent job! :)

@randommerade:

Why, thank you :) And the spellings and grammars... Ouch :( Some spelling and grammar errors are, well, intentional, but we do notice some errors (gotta proofread more...). We're trying our best to present the game!

And seems numfank hasn't told this yet. We're planning to make the game commercial. We know, we're very conscious about the game's soundtrack. Still far from appropriate to be commercial. We're using placeholder soundtracks to deliver the feel that we want at it's best for now, since most of the RTP tracks aren't suitable :p . We're a 2 man team, and both of us barely can compose musics! We hope someone can compose the tracks for this game. Composition for tropical setting is pretty rare IMO...

P.S.

@om Numpang Lewat:

versi indo

saran:

5) pas ngesave di depan quest hide and seek. trus load pas gak ketemu. error. (103 protection error)

stop deh mainnya... :D

6) kurang jelas harus ngapain. memang open world tapi harus jelas sedikit2 tujuannya ngapain.

7) script mancingnya belum ya gan. temanya mancing. tp gak ada mancingnya hehehehe. bisa pake scriptnya galv tuh.

8) status bleeding terlalu sakit. bocor hp. tiap ketemu komodo kabuuuurrrrr.....

9) skill pertamanya si molamola (rasanya itu namanya). gak beda sama mukul biasa. rugi mp.

10) hud hp mpnya textnya digabung gpp. tp perlu tulisan hp/mp biar lebih bagus. contoh hp: 100 / mp: 50. pertama gw kira itu 100/50 kok aneh.

bagusnya ini game:

1) hidup indonesia. hidangan laut, nama item pake barang indo.

2) menu keren. hidangan laut gambar makanannya mantap.

3) battle systemnya simple tp unik

4) encounter systemnya keren. (bisa di keroyok sama momon)

5) karakternya unik juga.

6) graphicnya 'indo' banget :D .
versi inggris

1) sometimes after battle (when fight experience gained) stuck the game. i have to click the desktop. refresh. then the game fps become 0. then when i click back it run again.

but it might because my laptop is not strong enough.

2) where to sell goods? (finally found it at day 3. it's really hard. maybe you could use moghunter event text script for showing labels above npc. so we know that npc is for selling things). not to mention the first time i enter that map it's raining. so the npc is not there. took me 3 days to finally able to sell the goods.

3) almost like number 2. confused where the inn is. apparently it's the biggest building. need inn sign maybe.

4) some npc don't talk. npc in hidangan laut can be stepped upon. :D

5) when saving in front of hide and seek quest. then loading the save when i fail the quest. error (103 protection error). make me stop playing...

6) not to sure what to do. open world concept still need hint what to do next.

7) no fishing yet?

8) bleeding state is too hurtful. deplete hp quickly. everytime meet comodo. escape!!!

9) molamola first skill (the girl that drown) not too different than attacking normally. waste mp.

10) hp and mp hud need to show hp: 100 / mp: 50 instead.

the good side of this game:

1) viva indonesia!, hidangan laut and some item name using indonesian word.

2) cool menu. also hidangan laut dish have good graphic.

3) simple but unique battle system

4) cool encounter system (can be mobbed by enemy)

5) unique character

6) indonesian feel graphic

And this is a rough guide + walkthru  for those who is stuck in the demo. ***SPOILER AHEAD***

Check your quest log often, there's lots of clue and story piece you can find there.

To recruit the spirit maiden in the demo you must finished all of their quest (3 each).

After finishing one quest, wait for the next day to discover new quest.

If you are sleeping in the inn, all your party member will be dismissed, and you need to recruit them again.

Molamola can be recruited in the rightmost beach, near the cave and hill.

Goldfish is in the farm near the village.

Mica is at the dock where you first came to Nusakana, in the right side.

Molamola can only be recruited when the weather is sunny.

Pink Ribbon for Mica's 2nd quest can be obtained by talking with Riri, for the Sticky Tape, you can buy it in the shop at the inn.

To catch the thief chameleon in Mica's 3rd quest who is hidden in the beach cottage unreachable area, enter the location from the grasspath.

Mr.Duck for Goldfish' 1st quest can be obtained from the red-haired boy near the Syldarian Compound.

For Goldfish 2nd Quest, find the old man Aslan to help you get pass the guards.

You can easily beat the miniboss in Goldfish' 3rd quest if you have Mica in your party and use her charm attack to the boss.

Your character can get a skill (one-two punch) if you train with Riri three times. Find Riri and talk with her and choose train with her. Riri then will teach you her martial arts skills.

To unlock Molamola special scene, go to Hidangan Laut restaurant at saturday

Enemy monster/beast/animal won't drop money, instead you will get loot from them. To sell the loot go to the NPC near the village beach (below Kilfern Compound and the wind turbine).

To get a bottled water (useful to fill up your MP) buy an empty bottle in the inn shop and fill it with water at the river near the farm.
@estriole

Thank you for the feedback :)

1) sometimes after battle (when fight experience gained) stuck the game. i have to click the desktop. refresh. then the game fps become 0. then when i click back it run again.

but it might because my laptop is not strong enough.
We are aware of this issue, and will fix this problem asap for the next release.

Our first concept for this game, since it's open world , is to minimize hand-holding the player as much as we can, and encourage to explore and gather info. But yes, we noticed there's apparently lack of pointer in the game, we will consider this for the next release.

4) some npc don't talk. npc in hidangan laut can be stepped upon. :D
They are just decided to be non-friendly with you maybe :D

As for NPC in Hidangan Laut, you can actually talk to them , we purposefully set their event to through to avoid them blocking your way to the restaurant waitress. We receive lots of complain for this and for the next release you can count that the Hidangan Laut Restaurant will be renovated to accomodate bigger customers size and of course bigger passageway. :)

5) when saving in front of hide and seek quest. then loading the save when i fail the quest. error (103 protection error). make me stop playing...
Sorry for the inconvenience this bug will be fix asap. :|

6) not to sure what to do. open world concept still need hint what to do next.
Explore, explore and explore :D

7) no fishing yet?
The engine for fishing is still under development, will be in the next release :)

8) bleeding state is too hurtful. deplete hp quickly. everytime meet comodo. escape!!!
We want to simulate the damage you actually get when wrestling with a comodo :D

9) molamola first skill (the girl that drown) not too different than attacking normally. waste mp.
Her attack should be effective for enemies with fire weakness, and yes her first skill is still pretty useless (apart from lighting a fire for roasting a meat).

10) hp and mp hud need to show hp: 100 / mp: 50 instead.
We will see to it.

Thanks for your feedback, have some molamola and friends :)

Hey! I recently sunk my teeth into this project. Not too far in, but my play thus far has left me with some questions/comments:

1. Grammar is rough here and there. Not sure if English is a second language for you guys (I am assuming so). I tend to be a stickler about the stuff. Not sure if you guys have invested in a native-English speaker checking the grammar, but it's worth looking into if not. Nothing short on you guys, I tend to pay very close attention to grammar in games.

2. I realize you guys have the open-ended world idea, but as of now, things tend to feel random. I am exploring, then I "accidentally" trigger an event to progress the game. I love the idea of wanting the player to explore the environment, but it proves taxing when majority of the time, you are wandering about aimlessly because you have little clue what to do next, or what is going on (which is kind of what I am doing).

3. Also, I am a bit confused about the point of the game. Is there a storyline? Or is this more of a "make your own choice, do what you want" game?

4. Is there a reason for fighting? With the island being a tourist attraction, I'm curious as to why there are roosters and crocodiles waiting to pounce on the unprepared as soon as they leave the beach. I feel as though the fighting element was included "simply because".

As of now, I'm having a hard time with continuing to play through, simply because up to this point I'm kind of bored (and nothing has really pulled me in, game wise). The look and feel of the game is superb, but I'm not exactly sure I'm keen on the gameplay/story.

Those points aside, the music you have chosen is superb, the graphics are inviting, and I love the overall atmosphere of the game. I won't sell this short, and I shall continue further.

Sorry, I hope I didn't come off as rude with my comments. Perhaps I am being too literal.

some suggestion. open world is great concept. but you might want to make some sidequest series. sorta like legend of mana. that game have lots of sidequest. and when following certain sidequest route. we receive certain ending.

also it's better if at start you give some introductory quest to make the player familiar with the concept. then after the quest finished. some scene telling that "okay... what should i do next?" :D .

/../../public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif
the owner got more money and expand the 'warung' hehehehe.

LOL

really? can we do that?

It is one of our plans, actually. But you know, the execution is just not done yet :p

In fact, it is (We should've paid more attention at our school English lessons :( ) We're struggling our best to make the grammar (and writing) as right as possible...
Seems that lack of clues is still one of the most prominent problems in the game. Note taken, but we'll focus other things first. We hope with clues we won't bind players to feel being ordered to point A and such...
Also, I am a bit confused about the point of the game. Is there a storyline? Or is this more of a "make your own choice, do what you want" game?
It's more storyline focused, actually. The concept is closer to dating sim games, while choices make some impact, we want the effect to be not too serious.
Is there a reason for fighting? With the island being a tourist attraction, I'm curious as to why there are roosters and crocodiles waiting to pounce on the unprepared as soon as they leave the beach. I feel as though the fighting element was included "simply because".
Wildlife everywhere, and they roam there anywhere. But if you want to notice, it's not them who want to pounce you, but you're the one who is messing with them. They're, for now, are not as aggressive that they'll get provoked on sight, right? :D The only reason for fighting is maybe for self protection for now, or hunt them for loot. :p
With the game is currently now, there's still so much to work with. We might release a follow up update for the demo which contains some bug fixes and availability for fishing in near future. Thanks for the feedbacks and wish us luck. :)

Main character's look is a bit creepy due context of the game. Oh well, you got my download. Oh well, time to see how the game plays.

Is he? o.o

Anyways, currently there is a rare bug that make the game freeze after you win a battle, on the victory screen. If you experienced this, don't close the game, just wait for a while and press confirm (enter, space,z). Sorry for the inconvenience, this issue have been fixed for later release, but the current demo has not yet been updated. ;_;

There's also a small guide/hint for the demo I made if anyone got stuck or don't know what to do in the game: http://pastebin.com/ySKuusHv

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
