I'm Ascent, long time lurker on an older account but first time poster. I remember using RPG Maker 2003 and XP when I was much younger, pulling all nighters with groups of friends creating all kinds of nonsense we'd play through the days. We were all aspiring game devs and even hosted our own game jams before any of us even knew it was a thing communities did. So I've lurked around here for years just to keep an eye on what the software and the community could do.
Anyways as I got older I came to realize while I love game development and coding in general, I just couldn't see myself doing it for a living. No matter how hard I'd try I would never find myself feeling passionate about programming. So after spinning my wheels for years I switched gears to focus on art, another medium I could express myself in and still tell stories, build worlds and even have a role in game development if I were to go down that path again. My problem has always been being interested in too many things and spreading myself too thin. No matter how hard I work, there just isn't enough time in the day to be a writer, musician, programmer, developer and artist on top of the normal life duties.
Now finding myself at yet another crossroads and while my freelance work has slowed down a bit, I've decided to try my hand at something new. Recently I picked up MV to familiarize myself with it as I'd like to make some art for it, maybe even a game. I still find myself playing with other software such as gamemaker and unity but always revert back to focusing on my art goals instead. So I'll be playing around here making all kinds of art, probably a little of everything to see how I like it. Honestly I'm mostly looking to grow as an artist and contribute to something that's always held a special place in my heart.
TLDR: Oh Hai Everybody! I has crayons!
