Does anyone here like the Old School Style Tiles? I think their alright, but theres really not a whole lot of them right now....i was just thinking i might try to make some rpg class sprites in that style...like a warrior, a wizard, and so on. But i want to make things that people might use....is anyone on here even using the OSM tiles?

I think they made an add-on just a few months ago, it may be free or not check it out if you haven't already. I don't think people really release games with resource packs, haven't really seen any know idea why, people put so much work into them. My brother is making a game with them and I'm sure others are too though, if you would like to then go ahead and make them :)

My current project is using OSM.  Also, remember that Old School Modern is literally a modern take on these tiles.  If you want to make some that are more medieval, you'll have to make a few extra sheets and characters to balance it out.  Not many people like the retro look nor can correctly use them to make something that really makes good use of them, so many people don't use them.  Other packs are not in the same vein, but people like pretty stuff or default so they don't have to do too much more work when creating.

I personally like putting in the effort of making new tiles and things for my projects, whether it's for DS/DS+, OSM, Pixel Myth or RTP-styled tiles (XP or VX/Ace).  Still, make some, show off screenshots of your progress and see how many people are interested!  I know I would be.

@Deathswallow:

It would be great if you made some standard RPG class sprites in OSM style!

It would be a bit difficult to use with OSM though, since the setting is mostly modern, not fantasy.

@MonkeySnow55 the Cookie:

If you are referring to some add-on tiles, then yes, there were some added on for free in the first pack.

The second pack is mostly sprites add-on for the first pack, and provides some overworld tiles for use with the first pack.

I think that people haven't really released games with this pack because of the fact that it is a modern setting, and because of a lack of materials earlier on.

Fantasy and Sci-Fi settings seem to take precedence over Modern for some reason. This pack is great for recreating games in the Earthbound vein.

I'm of two minds about them. The style is fun and the sprites are really expressive but the palette is awful and it's not as fun to make tiles for as I hoped. I'm also not very interested in making a modern game. New sprites are welcome but I think they'd only be used if there were tiles that matched.

@Monkeysnow: I think that you haven't seen many games with the store resources because it takes a while to make a game. In game making terms, most of these sets are really new. I've seen games made with some of the store tiles, just not Old School Modern yet. It's probably just a matter of time.

Here is a link to a game made with these tiles by Aldorlea  Great game in a somewhat rogue like style.  I do know that Indinera found the lack of sprites a big constraint, so if you were to make some in a modern style, I'm sure that anyone using this pack would be grateful.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
