I'll be releasing a new one with Ace Gameboy music soon.  As soon as it's ready, I'll submit it and I'd be glad to have it featured.  I just need to make Theme 6 into a Gameboy-esque fashion and it'll use that instead of the piece from FFLegends that is being used.  It will also feature a bed and nightstand that are freely available to those that own the pack. :D
And we'd happily feature it :)

Huge fan of the guys at finalbossblues and I gotta say I love the tileset. Like an earlier person commented, it reminds me of earthbound. Great work guys, keep it up :)

Is it possible to get the palette and a template for this set, so I can make custom graphics for it? Come to think of it, making those things myself should be easy enough, but i'd figure i'd ask because you know. Effort.  :|

I think this will do:

By the way, thanks Archeia.  Your continued support of my musical talents helped me to want to do this. :D

Really cool video. I played the Final Fantasy Legend series as a kid, so I'm really liking the sound you've got going. Not sure if you have any battle-related stuff up your sleeve, but if so, I'd be really excited to hear it.

I already picked up the old school resource pack to help support you guys. Keep it coming!

Not bashing this pack but, it look more like something on Game Boy Advance and I like it :)

I may use it for a part in my game where the heroes fall into a portal that take them to a very retro world.

Like I said before, it look more like GBA than GBC but I like it.

The reason it looks more like GBA tiles is due to the shading method employed. Glad you all like the video!

I'm gonna make a small/short game out of this pack as a side project. I know I'm probably going to have to make a majority of the battlebacks, animations, windowskins, and battlers for it(which will most likely look horrendous as my art skills...well...yeaaaaah lol) but I was just wondering if there are any plans to add resources like that and/or scripts for simplistic menus and battle system similar to say earthbound for this? It could be called Old School Modern Ultimate Pack! or Old School Modern Starter Pack!

Just curious. If I end up making anything decent for it I guess I could always share like djdark :)

just got the pack, today!! I didint realize people would get so bent out of shape about retro stuff.....but anyway. They were pretty cheap with the "wicked weekend discount", and anyway, i liked them, so i bought them. I think i could even make my own in this style. Using these as a reference, i dont think it would be to hard at my meager skill level of Graphic Artistry :D .

Anyway, with that said...Its retro, that's the point...Its about nostalgia, not high resolution, and all the pretty colors, and some people like that, including myself. Several posts ive read about these tiles talk about how they remind the writer of a game they played when they were younger, and how they enjoyed it and want to make a game like that. I believe that this product was rightly aimed at such a person....and thats all i gots to say about that.

Anyway, if theres anyone who didint know : There are a good few chibi (low resolution) battlers included with the DS+ resource pack that would go quite well with the Old School Tiles :D . Just FYI...

I love this pack, though I haven't gotten it yet. I like the fact that it's simplistic enough to (more than likely)be able to use these tiles/characters as a guide if your game requires a character or level that is lacking in the product itself, but complex enough to tickle the nostalgia bone quite a bit. I mean I loved my link to the past and pokemon red/blue and all that back in the day. Aaaaaaah, memories.

Loving this pack. Everything is so clean and simple and bright, it's perfect for a game I'm working on.

I look forward to extra installments!

I don't expect the second part to come out for a while. Despain has been kind of off and on in the RPG Maker front it seems ever since his exile from the forums.

Speaking of which, you're still able to sell products when you're banned?

So, thanks to a friend, I got the set as a gift and now I'm working on making description text files for the various tiles since some of them can be quite confusing! :dizzy:

As soon as they are done, I'll upload them as an attachment for anyone to download who has the pack.  Should help to identify just about everything. :)

EDIT:

Erk...some of these tiles in A5 I just don't get.  I've contacted the artist and hopefully he'll provide some insight as to what exactly they are so I can do them proper justice.

EDIT #2:

OKAY!  So, ALL tiles have been named and I'm sure some are mis-labeled, but I did the best I could.  I've also included a demo with two maps, common events for gameboy music fading and screen fading AND all tiles with passability done.  Some are also probably not right, but you can fix those yourself.

What is NOT included is the graphics for the demo (you MUST have purchased the resource pack and then copy them into the demo's graphics folder in order for this to work properly), and two pieces of gameboy music from Final Fantasy Legends due to them technically being ripped from a commercial handheld game.  For the music, you can either record your own NES/GB music, loop it and use that or head over to my blog site and pick them up there (link in signature).  As a bonus, I included a "Transfer" sound effect for free that is completely of my own design using the Paragon5 Beyond Tracker (Gameboy Music Tracker Program) that you can use in your projects if you so desire.  All I'd want is credit for the use of the sound effect (commercial & non-commercial).

Oh and special thanks to DP3 for his code snippet to adjust the currently playing BGM volume using a script call.

It's provided in the attachment or on my site with music included (no graphics).  Enjoy!
So, I saw ur vid. And I just bought this pack and I wonder. How'd you get the bed sprite. Cuz I don't rly c any...

He made it himself. He'll probably send it to you if you PM him but he can't post it because it's an edit of a store pack.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
