I own VX Ace, and I've only spent about 90 minutes playing through a sample game so far.
I've taken a bunch of notes and I've spent some time looking over various other games made in RM.

I'm curious about movement in particular, though...

1. Is omnidirectional movement (as opposed to 4-directional movement) natively supported in RM?
2. If not, do you guys think it would be a nightmare to implement with a custom script?

(Like... I'm wondering if making movement possible in any direction (360 degrees) all of a sudden would cause weird collision detection issues or something.)

3. Would it be a bad idea to allow players to not force players to move only 1-tile spaces?
Like, say you just tapped the right arrow key, it would only move you right a few pixels as opposed to 1 full tile.
Could that potentially cause any major issues?

I'd like to implement these things into a new game that I'm going to start building soon (after some more design / writing work).
They're not at all necessary mechanics, but it would be a little beneficial for me to know the exact limitations of player movement in RM at this point.

Any insight at all on this subject would be appreciated. <3

1. Yes. Look at the move route commands.

2. It's pretty straightforward.

This is the one I wrote: http://himeworks.com/2014/11/eight-directional-movement/

It includes dev log as well so you can see it written step by step

3. Collision detection is extremely simple in the default engine. You'd have to figure out how to implement collision detection to have smooth movement.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
