It's 2020, and there has been a poor communication going on with OMOCAT and her game. I get it that most games are done in a long year runs, but OMOCAT should also attempt to hype up people monthly or weekly as the game progress onto development for a long time. Problem is that first, she will make an excuse that she can't make any prolonged teasers for the game cuz "it will spoil the game and wants to release it as a surprise" while she doesn't know that we're already in an advanced age of Internet where spoilers can be easily searched. At this point, she looks like she's putting an NDA onto herself.
Second problem here is possibly OMOCAT's managing skills. OMOCAT alone isn't that much skilled at creating video games despite spewing it incredible ideas, like her possible goal for this game was to be "the next big indie game thing" like Undertale or Paper's Please. Yes i'm aware there are games like Fez and Owlboy, who also took many years than the former games that are "retro-sentimental platformers by independent studios that promised a lot, but seemed fated to never come out", but here for OMORI, it's a different story. Again, OMOCAT's managing skills seems to be so poor that it lacked communication towards its fans (besides Archeia rarely going to OMORI Discord server doing a better job at clarifying stuff and dispelling rumors and speculations than OMOCAT) and it's becoming more shady as time goes from OMOCAT's distraught apathy for us. You can even see the comments from their Kickstarter or Steam Discussion page about the huge amount of backlash itself, especially her poor stale updates with "Boy with Cry Wolf" delays saying "it's almost coming" at every delay.
