Whats happening --

I've started working with RPGM to create a new RPG intended for Commercial Release.



Plot

In the Village of Sturdy Oaks, our hero awakens to the sound of rustling leaves and the promise of adventure. Today is no ordinary day. Your father, a seasoned hunter, has invited you to join him in the hunt.
You will enter the village and prepare yourself for the journey that lies ahead. Within the village, the player will be introduced to the world, some characters, game mechanics such as questing and the battle system.
While out on the hunt together, you and your father are confronted by several knights. Something from your fathers past has caught up with them and a battle ensues. As the two of you fight against the knights, a realization comes over you both, of the danger that looms over your home. The hero quickly returns to the village, leaving his father to fight alone. On returning back to Sturdy Oaks and finding that their house is destroyed, and mother is missing, questions swirl in your mind, but there is little time to answer them.
With the knights hot on the trail you must flee.

Finding yourself on the edge of a majestic waterfall, there is little choice but to jump, plunging in to the unknown and the river below.

Development Progress

I'm about 5 months in to development and have completed several interior & exterior maps in preparation for a demo.

In terms of..? The theme or something else?

More broadly, it would be really great to get some critique. It’s the point of the post. :)

Is the style supposed to be lighthearted/whimsical?

Some of the names (Daevincian Machinoria) sound like they're comic imitations of other words.

The name "Daevincian" is a play on words, combining "Da'vinci" with "Machinoria" which references machinery with a magical twist. While some may find the name whimsical, it is intended to have a lighthearted feel in the style of RPGs. The concept pulls together medieval and steampunk elements, with Da'vinci representing the Renaissance period and characters like Morgana, Merlin, and Lancealot representing the King Arthur/Medieval period. The overall goal is to create an alternative reality that fuses different timelines, with the "curse" being a central theme.

Video Update
- Trees have more natural motion, now sway independently
- Grass and bushes+ have animation cycles
- Several NPC's
- House 2 has downstairs and upstairs interiors, complete with lighting
- Added animations to Waterfall scene, (waterfall cycle and moving trees)
- Added new forest scene
- Added SFX to the village (Birds tweeting etc) and SFX to home and house 2 bedrooms (creaking floor boards)
- Birds/Butterflies and other wildlife added to Village and home exterior scenes
- Added sign to Blacksmiths Store

Yanka is one of my dearly loved characters. And not only because she can perform the look of "puss in boots")))) Spy, infiltrator, kind-hearted with a soft spot for one Crimson Knight.
Just completed another cutscene. Huge one for the story. I'm so enthusiastic about where this game is going.
Man, the enemies in the new Sonic Frontiers update are totally roided up. I wanted a little more difficulty myself, but Sonic Team turned the dial a bit too far.

At least the new tracks for roaming Ouranos Island as Amy, Knuckles, and Tails slap hard.

This battle victory screen has been pretty fun to work on. Not only can party members set new personal records for their contributions to the fight, but when they do, the party remarks on the accomplishment!
