RPG Maker Forums

I'm currently working on a game with RPG Maker. What I've been doing is, I've been planning each aspect of the game out, then implementing them. It's worked rather well for me so far.

However, there's an area where I don't know how to implement this principle. You see, I've been planning my game out in a diary program, and while that does work for most things, it doesn't do so well when it comes to planning out maps. I know which maps should link to each other, but it's a little tough to plan out how exactly each map should look using words alone.

So, what methods do people here use to plan their maps? What kind of programs are used for planning? Is there anything else I should know? Thanks.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
