On which sites do you advertise your games?

Hi!

Since my game is slooooowly coming together, I started wondering about which places can I use to advertise my game in the future. I don't have a huge following on facebook or twitter, so those are not the best options. Obviously I'm posting about it here and on rpgmakervxacecommunity.com, and I will make a thread on Steam about it, but what else could I use to draw attention to my game. This will be especially important if I decide to go through Steam Greenlight.

I could use some advices about sites or youtubers who deal with indie RPG maker titles. Maybe you guys are more experienced about this than I am.

RPG Fan is the major website about RPG, but they only have google ads. Facebook is cheap to advertise but you need to know what you're doing.

Thanks. I was thinking about Facebook ads, although I don't know much about it. What do you mean by knowing what I'm doing when it comes to facebook ads?

You need to know your public to be able to pick smart tags, interests, age, regions... And put some money into it.
A professional would do it a lot better, but you can try by yourself you just need a credit card and some thinking.

I work with Facebook Ads but I don't have experience particularly with games.

J_C, I think you should concentrate on your Press Release before hand and send it gamepress.com. I mean now that you are developing your game, is it not better to make a 1st announcement to the online press to show what it is all about?

Now that's a good idea. I wouldn't have thought about sending an announcement to Gamespress.com. Thanks.

I've never had much luck with press releases though. Unless your product/game has something really catchy or looks really amazing, the press doesn't care. So keep that in mind.

You're right - a game without eye candy graphics and without a good presentation will remain in the dark. Most people won't care if they see traditional Rpg Maker graphics with default RTP or default Character sprites/portraits generator. What will catch people's attention is definitely graphics first....I think this is pretty much common to everyone - if graphics are nice looking, you will mostly look for more infos for that particular game.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
