I was going to ask this exact thing, pretty much. Do empty events for scenery animations like torches count, or no? Because that's kind of important to know.Do empty events count? Things like the bottom of a waterfall or party member events for cutscenes.
I don't think they should count.I'm kind of split on this because scenery animation events don't affect the game itself (I'd go with yes on events representing characters in cutscenes, trust me, you can work around this if you are clever anyway), but technically by the exact rules they would count.
What do people think, should purely cosmetic events count? (bottom/top of waterfalls, torches, etc).
I say they should count, because otherwise, it would seem unfair to those of us who already posted and finished our projects (unless you allow us who completed our entries a second entry)- plus they could secretly be used to hide event content to circumnavigate around the rules. Allowing them would make it harder to prove which ones contain content and which do not without the need of thorough investigation. I feel some of these rules like this should have been thought out before the event went live. What do people think, should purely cosmetic events count? (bottom/top of waterfalls, torches, etc).
Fair enough, although I won't be doing an enhanced version for a number of a reasons (primarily I need to finish two other projects first and I feel what I did does what it is supposed to do for the series as a whole). Also, let's be honest, it isn't like you can't make a second version of the game that is "enhanced" that doesn't follow the restrictions. As long as your original entry meets the restrictions and is a complete game in its own right it doesn't matter that much.
With this information in mind, I can finish my map and get started on the actual scripting. The thing is, that visual stuff isn't really necessary either. It does make the map look better, but the whole point is to work with a restricted set of tools.
