I don't think so? But I'd still recommend trying it out - just to get used to limitations and getting a feel for things without going overboard.

What makes you think that? It says in the first post that there’s no deadline and that; “All people who complete the challenge will be rewarded with an event-badge to celebrate their participation!”

It might be that it’ll take some time to get the badge if they are busy (RMW staff still haven’t distributed the event badge for the last screenshot challenge), but I’m sure that unless there’s been an official statement that says otherwise, you can still get it.

Just started working on my game again after a few months and am totally going to do this challenge. I'm going to start doing this and add it to my February goals, coming of a RPG making break it will help me get some of the rust off. Also, I think finishing this game and polishing the beginning of the game I've been working on is still realistic for me with the time I have and the cold outside. also, I cant say I have a regular streaming schedule for RPG maker, however I plan on streaming my entire One Map Game Challenge on twitch.tv/AngryBargy … creating content of creating content!

Have a nice day folks and happy gamming (or making as the case may be)!

Oooooh, I might try this... It'll take a couple hours just I think I can do it.
Lets see....
(I SOOOO should not have read this thread. Now you people have got me rolling.)

edit 1: I assume that the player does not count as an event? (just making sure)

edit 2:How about 6 events and 9 switches...? THERES a challenge. I'm squeezing a lot of information into these, too.

This challenge is a super cool idea. Limitations usually inspire me (actually, that might be one of the reasons I still work with RPG Maker period) Count me in.

@Padramyr Go for it. It’s not a contest. I don’t about getting multiple badges, as there is only the one to give out, but nothing is stopping you from making games.
Actually I don't really care about any badges ^^
I was wondering if I would be allowed to post multiple links in the submission thread. But your answer sounds like it's allowed. So thanks :D

A one map challenge, this looks SUPER FUN. Totally going to try it. Debating whether to use it with my favorites, Ace or MV, or to try 2k or XP out.

Since it's a challenge, you could do them all, make a nice little series of mini games.

Very true, that could be fun. Watch the graphics "evolve" lol. My only issue is I am having slight bit of trouble figuring out 2003 but I will probably figure it out (I can't seem to figure out what tiles are walls xD) But I like your suggestion! ^^

Before going with the idea of making a one map for all the makers I own, I began an MV project with a concept I really have been wanting to try for awhile. Originally it was going to be a visual novel, but an RPG with one map will work wonders! I could work my way backward and like.... say each map per maker happens in the same world maybe, just different concepts and stories xD

Well, so i had started my one map game. The good new is, the map is ready! :D

I never thought it was so hard to do a somewhat deep game with so few variables. Thank God for the self switches.

Hey there, I have a few questions about this challenge.. Trying to figure out if my concept would break the spirit of the challenge or not :D

1 - only 10 events are allowed - what about:
my map has 10 possible events (likely stored on the map out of view of the player), but as the player moves around the map, certain events may show, some may show multiple times at once (for example, a monster spawn event that randomly chooses the battler and monster graphic) but its unlikely that 10 or more would show at any single time.. Does this seem ok, or is it pressing against the spirit of the challenge?
I have no need for switches, or variables.

2 - my 'game map' is the entire world. My concept is basically pokemon go made in rpg maker mv. see below:
I do kinda feel myself that this aspect does kind of defeat the purpose of 'one map challenge' tbh. But I was looking for other peoples thoughts :) <3

@?????? Cheater! :stickytongue: Lol! Actually, I think the spirit/purpose of the challenge is to keep it simple so you finish the project. If this is simple for you, (and I'm pretty sure it is,) then it fits the spirit/purpose. I believe Touchfuzzy has the final say, though. I just wanted to reply to my favorite diabolical codemaster.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
