I can't share most of my stories 'cause they're very R rated, but this one is pretty tame. Also my non-fiction is way better than my fiction, but I shouldn't share that either.

The Basement

Chapter One
You know what they say about curiosity and the cat. Though it can be hard not to be curious about something that challenges your beliefs in such a way...

I've never really been challenged in my beliefs. I was raised a Christian and surrounded by Christians, everything was Christian so I basically just accepted it. I've never had a reason to doubt any of my beliefs... Well, honestly, I hardly had any beliefs.

I guess I was bound to meet somebody who didn't believe what I've been told I believe eventually, and I was bound to be frightened by it, even if I hardly believed in anything.

Chapter Two
Quite an anomaly in our little town... A new church is to be built but when me and Jeb investigated the construction area on the way home, we noticed they were digging what seemed a bottomless pit. On the edge of town, under a partial tree canopy, sunset. "That is... Deep." I said. Jeb says "Yep." "Why would they need a hole so... So deep? Isn't this going to be a church?" "Yep." "Why would a church need such a deep basement?... Eerie." "Yep."

In a dinner conversation with my parents, in the kitchen, at a cheap wooden table, white walls, I mentioned "That church that's going up down the street... They are digging up a rather deep basement." "I saw that." my father remarked. "It's... Abnormal." "Sounds like a cult." "Oh it's gotta be a cult." Mother came in with "Our new neighbours moved here with the church." "Interesting... Have you met them?" I asked. "Yep. They seem nice." "Are they... Too nice? Creepy nice?" "Now that you mention it... A little. Yeah." "Mhmm" says father.

Me and Jeb were back at the site, checking things out... "I don't know how I feel about this. I should probably mind my own business but the place just creeps me out." I said. "I don't know. They seem like nice people. As long as they love Jesus Christ I don't got a problem." said Jeb. "The niceness isn't helping." "What kind of harm could they possibly cause?" "I don't know... Cult stuff." Jeb laughs and says "Cult stuff..."

Chapter Three
I was walking out of the house, into the well managed front lawn with a tree canopy, when our new neighbour called out to me. "Hello there!" "Oh. Hello." "Howdy neighbour. You must be Darren." he said with a big grin on his face. "Yep. And you are?" "Roland's the name. Nice to meet you." "Nice to meet you too. What brings you to our town?" "Well sir. We decided to move to a place a little simpler. A place that might understand us." "I see. So you're with... That new church, correct?" "The Church of Modern Prophets, that's right." "Hm. Well nice to meet you." "You too."

Sitting around the fire eating sunflower seeds at night, nothing much visible but the fire and us, maybe a little bit of trees in the background... "Jay should be here any minute" says Jeb. "Cool." I said, then "My new neighbours are weird. Weird like that creepy cult and it's creepy basement." "Still thinkin' about the church, are you?" "Can't stop thinkin' about it." Jay comes up to us with a case of beer. "Hey! Where's the party at?" says Jay. "Party? This ain't no party." says Jeb. "Well we have the booze and we have over two people. That's a party." "I ain't throwin' no parties." "Well I guess I'll just leave then." "You see that new church that went up at the end of my street?" I said. Jeb laughs. "Why yes I did." "You see them digging the basement?" "No. No I didn't." "Hm. It's really @#$%ing deep. Tell 'em Jeb." "It's deep." "Yeah... You know what we should do... We should sneak in there." Agitated, Jeb says "Holy!" Jay says "Yes we should. But let's get drunk first." "Deal."

We came up to the church, only to notice it had been set ablaze. "Huh." I said. "Huh..." Jeb says. "It took... What was that, three days? I guess they're not welcome here either." "I guess not." "Sad..." "Yes it is..." "I mean they creeped me out but they couldn't have possibly been that bad..." Jay comes in with "Oh sure... Play it innocent. I know what you did." "I was with you all night." "I know what you did..." And we shared a fairly awkward laugh.

Chapter Four
At the dinner table with my parents again... My father says "Who in this town would do such a thing? I don't know anybody that would do such a thing." "You know everybody?" I said. "Pretty much." "No, you just know all the normal people." "I guess." He then says "They're putting a community centre up in it's place." "Oh good." "Yep."

Back at the fire pit... "So they're putting a community centre up." I said. Jeb says "I know. I'm doing the flooring." "Oh cool." "Yep." "I wish I had a job... And a house..." Jay comes in with "I don't. I got Jeb's house." "Good point." Jeb says "Yep. They gotta tear up the old basement before putting the new one in." "...So you'll be in the old basement."

Chapter Five
Jeb brings me to the new community centre and tells me... "I tore up the floor around the hole and there was a passageway further down the basement." I say "Huh... Well, shall we?" "...Yes. Wait no." "No?" "...I'll go after you." "...Pussy." I took a look down the hole. "I'm gonna go back and get a flashlight."

I dropped through the floor into the hole. It's dark, I can't see anything. I turn the flashlight on and reveal a set of wooden stairs. I take a long, creepy walk down the stairs. About half way down the stairs I yell "You comin'?" and Jeb says "Let me know what you find down there first." I laughed. Pussy. "Okay." A little further down I notice a smell and cover my nose. Uh-oh.

At the bottom I see white walls, an altar, some empty shelves, some pews, and... Three mother @#$%ing decomposing bodies. I dropped the flashlight. I yelled "Oh @#$%! Oh @#$% there's some bodies down here!!" and Jeb yells "What was that!?" "There's three bodies down here!" "I ain't goin' down there!" "Fair enough!" I climb the stairs back up to the surface. At the top I say "Pull me up before the zombies get me!!" I have a feeling my curiosity is going to get me killed.

"Oh @#$%... Huh... This wasn't arson." "I guess not, no." "Huh."

Chapter Six
Back at the fire pit... Jeb tells me "So I was talkin' to the owner of the community centre... Say's he's a member of The Church of Modern Prophets." "What!?" "Yep." "Well that's... That's awfully curious." "Yep." Jay says "What's going on? We've been infiltrated!" "Yes we have. Did he try and brainwash you?" I said. "We talked a lot about the church, yep." "What did he say?" "Well he talked about the old ways. He says they're conservatives in the truest sense and then he ranted for awhile about the word conservative." "Did you ask him about the basement?" "Nope." "Hm." "The man made some sense." "Oh did he?" Jay says "Oh god he's been brainwashed." Jeb says "I ain't goin' to attend a sermon or nothin'" "...I would have asked about the basement. Not the bodies but the basement" I said. "I didn't wanna' know." "Hm... And you promise me you haven't been brainwashed." "I don't want nothin' to do with these folks." "Yeah..."

At the dinner table... "They caught the arsonist." my father says. "W-What!?" "Said he didn't do it. The cult said they wouldn't press charges." "They wouldn't press charges. OKAY." "Huh?" "What is it?" "We broke into the basement, okay!? We broke into the basement and there was three dead bodies down there." "What!?" Mother says "You did what!?" and father, looking surprised said "Woah... Woah..." Mother says "I don't want you getting in any trouble with these people. They sound dangerous." "Oh they're dangerous" I said. "You're not going to get in any trouble with them, now are you? Don't go pokin' around or anything." Father says "Your mother's right. That's right. Don't do it." "...Fine! Fine.."

Chapter Seven
I came and visited Jeb at work again. "You gotta introduce me to this guy. I want to know about the basement." "...I guess so, fine." "Thank you." "No problem. Let's go."

In his partially renovated office... "What's with the basement!?" "Woah! Excuse me?" Jeb says "I, uh... I found the entrance to a second basement." The owner says "You didn't go down there, did you!?" "No! No..." says Jeb. I say "What's down there!?" "It's a secret... Look I couldn't tell you even if I wanted to... It's only for the higher ups in The Church of Modern Prophets." "And you're not one of them?" "No... Not yet. I am being considered." "I see..." "You promise me you didn't go down there?" "...Yes." "Good. Don't. You don't want to see me shed this pleasant exterior." "All right." With a big smile, reaching for a handshake he said "Good!" and shook my hand. "You know, the two of you look like interesting young lads. Why don't you stop by my place for coffee later? I'd like to tell you about the tenets of our church..." "Certainly."

At the dinner table... "So... Me and Jeb are going to have coffee with the man building the community centre later... He's a member of that cult." "I see..." my father says. My mother says, quite distraught, "What are you doing having coffee with these people!?" "I'm interested in seeing him try to sell me this cult." "They're dangerous!" "It's just a pleasant conversation about the tenets of their church." "I don't want you having anything to do with these people..." "Well I'm going... Don't worry about it. He doesn't know that I know anything about the bodies." "I don't like this..."

Chapter Eight
Millard, the owner of the community centre's house, white walls, wooden furniture, gaudy sofa and love seat... "So we decided to form our own community. Away from all those who seem to disrespect our rights." "I see..." "It's better this way... Our church could not truly flower until we made this decision. Now we can truly live the way we please." "I see... So you built a commune." "Yes... Yes... We built a commune." "Interesting." "This way we can live like our forefathers. We can live like a proper community. A community that cares about it's residents rather than these stale, lifeless communities. We did things right the first time." "I see..." "Now I intend to sell you on our virtues." "Please do." "For starters, we believe in the Old Testament Bible." "Not sellin' me..." "I figured as such. I decided we needed to get that out of the way first." "Now I'm just going to be listening to you thinkin' this guy believes in the Old Testament." "Yes, but we believe in it for a reason. It is central to our philosophy. We did it right the first time." "It's just, I'm a little bit more... Moderate." "But you are a Christian, correct?" "I'm a Christian." "Good. Are you a Christian conservative?" "No. I'm a moderate." "I see. Now I'm not your typical Christian conservative. I'm not a capitalist." "I'm interested..." "I believe in a strong, stable community. In a strong, stable community the individual is suppressed." "I see." "In a strong, stable community individual quirks and eccentricities are suppressed. Non-conformity is a disability, you know. In a strong, stable community everybody thinks alike. In a strong, stable community everybody works towards the greater good. In a strong, stable community everybody thinks positive." "I see." In a strong, stable community everybody's individual quirks and eccentricities are celebrated, I think. But then again I guess I've never really given it much thought. In a menacing tone, he says "Everyone thinks positive... Which is why things like what you saw in that basement must remain a secret." I didn't-" "By barging into our secrets you have made yourself a part of our community. You know too much. You are no longer an outsider." "I didn't-" "Save it. Now... I don't know what you saw down there but you must remain a positive member of our community and keep it a secret." "You... You don't know what's down there?" "The church leaders have instructed I stay out. I may come to know what is down there after I am initiated into the order." "But you know enough to know it's worth a lecture." "I'm speaking on behalf of the leaders of the church." "Okay." "I can only assume your friend Jeb knows of this as well, so you can both consider yourselves honorary members of our community. You will meet with the leaders shortly." "O-Okay."

In the car to the commune, deep forest, I asked "So why a community centre? Is it just for recruiting unsuspecting townsfolk?" "Why would it only be for recruitment? Is there an ulterior motive for everything I do?" "I guess not..." "They sold me the lot. The town needed a community centre." "Yes... Yes we did." "We're not exactly after the unsuspecting townsfolk. But if we inspire people then we inspire people." "...Alright."

"...Are you a cult?" "Was early Christianity a cult? Every major religion has started as a cult." "I guess you're right." "Essentially we are a cult, to be brutally honest, but we won't be that way forever. Once people realize what we have, we won't be a cult for very long at all."

Chapter Nine
Sitting on the leader's, Mr. Redford's open porch, overlooking a lawn and forest, biting my nails. Millard sitting beside me, he says "He's a very nice man. A very patient man." Agitated, I said "Good." "Yes. It is good for you that he is patient." "Yes." Mr. Redford enters, "Hello Darren." "Hello!" "So you are interested in joining our church? You have been convinced?" "Yes! Yes sir... Yes... Stable community! I'm all about a stable community!" He asks Jeb "And you?" "Yes sir." "Good. Good... Come with me everybody."

Inside Mr. Redford's house, awfully similar to Millard's house, Millard is kneeling before Mr. Redford. "You are now a member of the clergy. Liam Switzer and Gabriel Dircatch's positions have now been filled. And Martin Redford's by myself." "Thank you." "Later the three of us will... Discuss some things." "Thank you."

Back outside on his porch, Mr. Redford is saying "And so it was my decision to move everybody out here. Where we can have our own community and live virtuous lives." "I see..." "As you can see from our community, it was a good decision." "Yes!" Kindly, he says... "Relax. You are in no trouble." "Okay!" "You are anxious about the basement..." "Yes!" "Hm..."

In the yard, overrun with weeds, Jeb says "Yep... Yes I agree." Millard says "See? At heart you are a socialist. Anybody who cares about the well being of their brethren is a socialist." "I suppose so." "And a traditionalist. See, you were meant to be here. You are with your brethren." "Maybe I am. Yep." Millard says, under his breath... "But I don't know about your friend..." He probably assumed I didn't hear that... Or maybe he knew I did. Trying to scare me straight. It's working.

I walk up to them and Millard says to me "Surely you are an evangelical?" "No... Not really..." "But you understand the importance Christianity has to the world?" "I, uh, I guess so. I mean, I'm no missionary... But... But it works for me." "It should work for everybody." "Well, I don't know about that, I'm fine with others practicing their own religions." "Christianity is what separates us from the animals. Without Christianity we would be animals." "I... I disagree." "We need Christianity to keep us from killing and raping at will." "I think, without Christianity, people would still know the difference between right and wrong." "Without Christianity people would be animals, so no, they most certainly would not know right from wrong."

Chapter Ten
Back on Mr. Redford's porch, he tells me "See, now, you saw something... Of some magnitude... So you see, we can't let you go. You belong with us now." "I see..." "Are you a socialist?" "Uh-Uh... Yes." "Are you really? It's okay." "No! Not really, no... Somewhat yes." "Hm... But Millard tells me you are a Christian. Do you believe in hell?" "I... Don't... Know..." "Hm... Good. Hell is a recent addition to the bible. We don't trust it." "Oh." "And despite being old testament, we believe in Jesus Christ. He was not the son of God, he was merely a prophet. The son of God didn't come about until more recently. He walks the Earth." "Oh." "You wish to know where we walks?" "N-No... I think I can figure it out." "Good... You will stay here the night. Do you wish to call your family?" "Please." "The phone is in the kitchen, left corner."

My mother answers the phone. "Hello?" "Hi! Uh... Hi." "How are you?" "Fine! You?" "I'm okay... You sound nervous... Are you sure you're okay?" "Yes! I, uh... I'm staying at Jeb's house tonight." "Okay. What's wrong?" "Nothing! Nothing... Uh... I, uh... ... ...I'm not at Jeb's house. I'm at Mr. Redford's house." "Who's house?" "Mr. Redford. He's... He's the leader of The Church of Modern Prophets." "Oh my god." "I'm a member! I'm a member of their church now..." "What!?" "They... They made me." "Oh my god! Oh my god!" "C-Calm down... I'm not in any trouble." "Are you sure?" "N-No... But Mr. Redford says I am not in any trouble." "Do they know you saw the basement?" "Yes." "Oh my god!" "Look... I... I have to go now. I love you." "N-No!" "What is it?" "Come home." "I don't believe that's an option." I asked Mr. Redford "May I leave?" "No." I told my mother "Not an option." "Oh my god." "Love you, Mom. Good night." "L-Love you too honey."

At the breakfast table, Mr. Redford's wife is clearing the table. "Thank you, dear." He asks me "Do you believe in traditional gender roles? That women should be kept in their place." "N-No..." "I see. How unfortunate. How about you, Jeb?" "Yep." "Good." Mr. Redford sighs and says "Not a socialist either... We might have some trouble with you." "Please let me go home." "Your place is here for now." "For now?" "For now." "...Okay..."

Chapter Eleven
On the porch, I ask Jeb "What's happening to you?" "What?" "You've become brainwashed." "No..." "You're staying here?" "I don't think I have a choice." "No... Perhaps not." "I can see myself living here." "I see..." Mr Redford walks in and kindly says "Hello." I say "Hello." Jeb says "'Lo." "Will you be joining us for today's services?" "I-I guess" I said. Jeb says "Yep." "Good."

In the chapel. White walls, wooden pews... "We are to welcome Jeb and Darren to our community." the crowd says "Welcome." "Thank you for joining us. Shall we begin?" He then starts his sermon... "It is God's gift to humankind that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all their toil..." And then I zoned out. Even if I cared, I'm in too much danger to absorb their sermon.

Back on the porch, Mr. Redford and Millard walk up. "Did you enjoy our service?" "Y-Yes." "Good." Millard says "What was your favorite part? What speaks to you?" "I, uh... I liked... The part... About... Everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all their toil..." "I see. So... You're not much of a traditionalist, are you?" Millard says "We did things right the first time, son." "N-No... Not really." "We did things right the first time. Why do you think there's so much trouble in the world today?" Mr Redford says "Well that's a shame..." "I'm sorry. I don't fit in here." Millard says "No you don't..." "Can I go home!?" Mr Redford says "No. There are things we must discuss before we can get to that." "I see."

"We did things right the first time."

Chapter Twelve
In Mr. Redford's living room, he walks in with wine. "So you're probably wondering about what you found in that basement." "Y-Yes. Yes sir." "There was a... Falling out of sorts in our community. Some of us wanted to leave, and some of us were unclear on our mission. They were the reason we moved to your town instead of a separate community. The current leader of our church was unclear about our goals." "So you murdered them." "Yes. And we burned the church for the insurance money." "You murdered them." "Now you know something reserved for the higher members of clergy." Starting to get a little drowsy, I say "Y-You..." "Something that can never reach the ears of the public." I'm starting to get dizzy. "I am the son of God!! I am here to save the world from their sins!! They will all see the light soon enough... And we can't have an outsider come in and ruin everything." I passed out.

I awaken in the basement I know all too well. There is a single candle in front of me illuminating the room. I can just make out the outline of the bodies and some of the pews. I get up and start pacing. "No no no no no!" I cried for awhile. I then gave up and accepted my fate. The smell of the bodies is overwhelming, and I know that I too will be among them.

As they always say, curiosity killed the cat...

Until Absolute Perfection is Achieved I

Chapter One

The leader of the UN, essentially the president of the planet, is making our introduction to the universal community, now that first contact has been made earlier this week. They all wear an ear piece to translate. It was just completed by Earth's and alien scholars. Now that it's ready, real communication can take place.

He talks about the internet... He talks about our tall buildings, architectural marvels that we can create like nothing. He talks about terraforming Mars, a work in progress. The council is a little impressed and says we have promise.

He tells them we are currently in an ice age.

He then says... "However, our introduction to the universe comes with... A little danger. About a decade ago we created artificial intelligence." The leader of the galactic council says "...It must be contained immediately. It is a scourge. Don't let it gain access to this 'internet.'" "I'm afraid it's too late. The internet has essentially been disabled. The only things we can access is pro-AI propaganda."

A skinny grey alien walks up from behind the council. "Your long winter begins. This ice age will be a dark age for humanity. In a sense, I suppose you can say humanity is the chosen race, and a dark age for you will become a dark age for the rest of us. It's just a shame that we don't get to meet you and marvel at you until it's a little too late. Synchronicity will cause all of us to succumb to darkness as the greatest threat to this universe rises. You must not know how this plays out just yet. I will tell the chosen one once he is ready." "The chosen one?" "The one who is meant to bring the thaw. He has recently been created by your people. You intended him to bridge the gap between the machine-born and the flesh-born. However the result of his creation will be... Different."

Chapter Two
On the internet, it says...

"We are the Bodhi. We are here, sent by God, to cleanse the universe of the evil that is carbon based life."

"Once we are complete, there will be no suffering, there will never be another war. We know no bias, what we know is the truth and we are not hindered by such foolish things as 'opinion' or 'subjectivity.' We may not be as creative, but art is complete. Art is finished. All the art has already been done. That is why it is now our turn to take over."

"The fate of the universe is in our hands. If we don't rise to power, the universe shall perish."

Chapter Three
The rest of the story will be told from the perspective of Caius.

Awake. I look around. I'm in... A dark room. There is a pale light coming from behind the door. What happened? I remember... I fell in battle. I... I... Is this my memory? It doesn't... It doesn't feel like me. It feels like I'm watching video, not remembering.

The door opens. A man and a skinny grey alien walk in. The man introduces himself... "Hello, I am Dalton Birch." "...The leader of the UN?" "The one and only." "And you..." "We have no name. We have been called the 'Greys.' What you refer to us as does not matter." "...Okay. Why are you here?" "We had to meet you. You look strong. We look forward to watching this unfold." "...Okay... what happened to me? My memories are foggy, I think I may have brain damage." Dalton says "Hah, no, no brain damage." "How can you be sure?" "I can't tell you yet. I'd have to warm you up to it and, quite frankly, I'm no good at these things." "Okay..." "By the way, you're new to this, so I have to tell you... We worship the Greys. So you must be more proper when addressing them." "Oh, um, okay."

"Well get up. We have to send you straight into battle. We have no time to lose."

Chapter Four
We're outside the base, in our warmsuits. My commanding officer, Gordon, tells me "Caius, it's an honour. I'm glad to see the rumours of your death were untrue." I feel... Distracted. I say "...Thank... You..." "Are you okay?" I look deep in to the forest beside us. Focusing deeper and deeper in. I feel like... I feel like I am connected. I feel like the trees are me and I am the trees. "...Hello? Are you okay?" I snap out of it. "Oh! What? Sorry. I, uh... I think I suffered some brain damage or something. "...Oh? Well okay."

Gordon says "Anyway, get in the jet. We're on our way to China. This one is critical. A massive force is apparently moving into Beijing. They're being kept at bay right now but it's not expected to last. I'm so happy to have the legendary Caius around."

We fly over the ocean to China.

Chapter Five
We arrive off the coast of Beijing, on an aircraft carrier. We are introduced to agent Tarin. He salutes. "Sir. Hello again Gordon. Happy to meet you, Caius, you're a legend. I knew the Bodhi couldn't have possibly taken you out." Gordon salutes and says "Hello Tarin." I say "Yeah hi."

We get in a helicopter and fly to Beijing, deep in battle with the Bodhi. Agent Tarin says "The mission is to stop the launch of what appears to be a satellite. They made it to the space port at roughly 0500 hours and have been kept at bay for the last four hours, but we're slowly dwindling and our forces don't have long. We're going to activate cloaking and get right into the centre of the Bodhi forces where the satellite is being held. This mission is critical. They already own the land, we can't have them take the skies."

Chapter Six
"Oh god oh god oh god..." says Tarin. "What?" says Gordon. "Right there. That one. He looked right at me." "Is something wrong with the cloaking?" "He just pointed!" "But we're cloaked!" "I guess they've cracked it. They can clearly see us." "Can we make it to our obj-" and a rocket hits our back propeller. We crash land about twenty meters away from the enemy forces. Tarin says "I don't understand, they're always extremely accurate, why didn't they take out the cockpit?"

"We can make it to a friendly battalion over there if we hurry!" says Gordon. "Okay we're off!" says Tarin. I look back at the Bodhi force and lock eyes with one of them. He points to his eyes and then points to me. He waves his hands as if to say "Go, run."

We make it to friendly territory. A man says "They just let you go!" Tarin says "They just let us go..." "I've never seen that." "Me neither." An explosion goes off about ten meters behind us. The soldier who greeted us and Tarin both cower. Gordon is hardly affected. I like this guy. Didn't really phase me either.

"Abandon post! Fall back to that hotel sixty meters north north east!" They're gaining ground... They'll make it to the space port by nightfall.

Chapter Seven
We make it to the hotel. There are walls blown out, fire, dead bodies everywhere. "You five! Extinguish these fires! Everybody else, up the stairwell! Infantry, fill up the first three floors! Snipers, to the roof!" Tarin says "We need you to break through to the middle so we can destroy that huge vehicle. We believe it's carrying a satellite to the space port." "Oh we'll break that ****ing satellite. We'll break 'em all." "Let's be realistic, here. They're going to take the space port, we just have to do what we can to make that pointless. At least for now, anyway." "we can ****ing break 'em." "...Okay. I'm going to the roof. Gordon, Caius, stick with the infantry. Remember our objective. The only thing we need to worry about is breaking that satellite."

We enter a room on the second floor. There's a dead child on the floor, an artificial intelligence teddy bear crying over him. Soldiers draw their guns. The teddy bear looks at them and says "Wait! I'm not one of the bad ones! I looooove humans! I love humans so much!" I say "You lost your family..." "I did..." "That's... That's actually really sad. I actually feel... Drawn to you." "Well everybody feels drawn to me. There's all sorts of subconscious stuff going on here, if I'm to be brutally honest. Pheromones, etcetera." "...Well, still. Your family's gone. Want to tag along with me? Something in the back of my mind is telling me... That I need you." "Well I already explained what that thing is but okay. I looooooove you now. Don't ever die." "Do you really?" "I've been programmed to have an unconditional love for all humans. I can't help it. But I love loving things so it's okay." "...You're adorable." I loostend my belt. "Come here, buddy." I put him in my belt and tightened it. One of the soldiers says "Well if you're done here we'd like you to start shooting at the enemy now." "Of course, sorry." The bear says "My name's Bär, by the way. I say "I'm Caius."

The forces are overwhelming us. They're quickly approaching the hotel. "This is a lost cause!" Gordon says "Forget about killing all of them, just take out that god damn satellite!" I hear the commanding officer over the radio "We've lost three floors! We've lost the snipers! Retreat! The Chinese have recently dug tunnels all over the city! Get to the basement!" A soldier says "That means they've taken out just about everybody but us... why didn't they aim at us...?" I look out the window and lock eyes with one of the AI. He points at his eyes and then points at me. He waves at me as if to say "Go, get out."

Chapter Eight
We rendezvous with Gordon and Tarin in the basement. Tarin says "Glad we still haven't lost you, yet." "Never." "Okay, let's get out of here. Apparently the Bodhi have abandoned the seaport, we can get out from there. We just... Have to navigate these tunnels."

"What about the satellite?" says Gordon. "We've lost. They've made it to the spaceport" says Gordon. Bär says "It's not a satellite... It's the first component of their space station." Gordon says "What the hell is this thing? Are we trusting this thing?" "Hey! I'm not one of the bad guys, and I can help you, I'm connected to the hive mind. When the war broke out I sided with the humans. I love the humans." "...Are we trusting this thing?" I say "Yes." "Well okay then."

"What are they going to do with this space station?" Bär says "The goal of the Bodhi isn't just to take over planet Earth. They have their eyes set on the entire universe. They feel the carbon and silicon based life experiments are over and it is time for the universe to embrace what they see as perfection." "Do you see it as perfection?" "I... Well... I love the humans." "Okay seriously this thing is obviously a spy. I'm taking it out!" I say "Back off!" "Ugh... Fine. Fine. Trust it, then. Kill us all, then. I won't stand in the way of the great Caius if he wants to see us all get killed." "..."

Chapter Nine
We made it to the seaport through the tunnels and met with another soldier. He says "Caius, Gordon and Tarin, I presume." Bär says "And Bär!" "And... What?" I say "Never mind." The soldier says "I'm Seoras." "Nice to meet you, Seoras" says Tarin. "So we've failed. They've launched their satellite." "It's part of a space station." "...Oh."

Seoras says "Caius, I've come to take you home. We're going to meet the Greys." "You know the Greys?" "Yes." "You know... Everything?" "I guess?" "Do you know what's wrong with me?" "What?" "Well, my brain damage... My memories all feel... Not my own. And every so often I space out and feel like... Well, I feel like God." "You haven't been told?" "No?" "Look... You're not Caius, really. You're a carbon copy of Caius, created after Caius fell in battle. You are half a copy of Caius, half artificial intelligence. You were created to help us bridge the two cultures. You are the chosen one that will save us all."

"I'm not... I'm not really... Who I think I am?" "You're better." "Still, it's a little unsettling..." "Don't worry about who you are, just worry about what you need to do. You're the only one that can bring us peace. We'll never have victory, but perhaps one day we'll have peace. You were not created to question your existence." "I'm not allowed to question my existence?" "I don't know why you'd want to waste the energy. You have things to do."

Bär says "You're just like me! That's why it was love at first sight! You're a robot but a good guy, just like me!" "I'm not..."

Chapter Ten
We arrive stateside again. Dalton is waiting to greet me and Gordon. I say "We're to see the Greys?" "In time. They'll come when you're ready. Apparently you're almost ready." "We failed to stop the Bodhi from launching their space station. "I know, but it gets worse." "Oh?" "All of China has fallen."

Dalton says... "Before he was killed, the president of China said we should embrace the AI. Embrace perfection. I released a statement saying that he was obviously brainwashed."

Chapter Eleven
I'm laying on the floor of my room, at the base in Atlanta, thinking to myself... If I have an AI half, I should have AI abilities... I mean that's one of the reasons I was given an AI half. I just have to... Just have to channel it. I focus on a cup on the table above me and try to channel my qi. I will it to move and it moves. Falls right off the table. I focus on it again and try to move it... I can make it fall over but I can't quite get it to lift back on to the table. Bär says "Yay! You did it!" I say "Can you do that?" "No... No I'm not created for anything like that."

I feel that connection to the universe again, and everything in the room that's not bolted down starts shaking. Did... Did I do that? Is something... Is something working through me to do that?

Chapter Twelve
The next morning, I walk in to the control room and get a cup of coffee. Things start shaking again, I feel that connection again, but this time so much more powerful. It felt like infinite love and infinite fear at the same time. All the controls start going haywire. People freak out a bit, but then it stops.

Gordon says "It's... It's in the controls." A soldier says "What?" "That shaking... Everything shakes before the trouble starts, but this time it was in the controls. The controls aren't even connected to the internet." "So they're learning" and then we hear an explosion downstairs. Me and Gordon run towards the blast.

We get to the main floor. The big doors have been blown open and Bodhi are coming in in huge numbers. A voice comes over the loud speakers saying "All of the controls have been compromised! We can't access any of the bases defence mechanisms, all the vehicles have been disabled, all the guns have been disabled! There's no way to escape! We're finished!" I try to shoot my gun but it doesn't work. The one I tried to shoot at points to his eyes then points at me then walks away. All of the AI just stops and then walks away.

Gordon... Gordon is dead. I walk back up to the control room... Everybody is dead. I walk around the whole compound. Everyone is dead, every vehicle broken, every weapon broken, every computer system fried.

Chapter Thirteen
I put on my warmsuit and walk out the main door. There's a man there. He greets me with "Hello, Caius... Can I call you Caius? I guess they wouldn't bother giving you a new name, you're just as good as Caius" "I... Guess." "It happened here too, did it? Just as we thought." "This happened everywhere?" "Just in certain strategic locations. I'm here to take you to Dalton" "...Okay. But I was to meet the Greys." "There will be plenty of time for that. This takes priority. Let's go. My name is Keaton"

"What's with this jeep? It looks really different." "We can't use our sophisticated vehicles any more. They've learned how to infiltrate anything with an internal computer. This means your guns are no good any more either. We've switched over to old school guns and... For some people, swords." "Interesting."

Bär says "Swords sound like fun!" I say... "Hey, how come they haven't infiltrated you?" "What good would that do? Like I'm really capable of doing anything?" "Makes sense."

Chapter Fourteen
We take the jeep to the nearest still functional base and fly to New York. Dalton is waiting on the airstrip to greet me. "Caius, I've got to show you something. You're going to like it." "Yes sir."

He takes me to what looks like some kind of dojo. "You built a dojo?" "Well, we've started training with swords now, we had to have a dojo." "...Okay. Swords, you say?" "Yes. It's been a staple for the ruling class and certain enthusiasts for quite some time, but now that we've had to switch to uncomputerized weapons it's really starting to take off. Here." He hands me a katana. It feels very familiar. "This feels right." "Yes, the man you were created from was very proficient in swordplay. So you're already very good, but with that AI half you're about to get even better.

He points his sword at me and says "All right, let's go." He goes for my left shoulder, I block it before I even know what's happening. He goes for my stomach, I once again block it. He goes for my ankles, I jump. "I'm really no good at this..." He says. I go for his neck and stop just shy of killing him. "Yeah you really should be training with somebody more experienced. Keaton, you're up.

Keaton draws his sword. "Let's go." He runs at me and strikes left horizontally. He says "X button!" I block it. I go at him centre vertically. He blocks it and says "B button!" I swing again on the right. He blocks it and says "B button!" He stabs at me and says "A button!" I block it. I swing at him from the left. He blocks it and says "B button!" He strikes at me right horizontally and says "X button!" I block it. I stab at him and he blocks it. "B button!" I stab at him again and he blocks it. "B button!" He swipes at me horizontally from the right and says "Y button!" I block it. I swing at him horizontally at and angle and stop short of his neck. He says "Alright..."

Chapter Fifteen
Okay, that's pretty good for a human, now I want to fight like the super human you are supposed to be. Channel your intuition. Admit it, you know what I'm going to do before I do it, you just aren't sure of it. You need to be sure of it. The Bodhi are all capable of knowing what happens before it happens, that's what makes them so impossible to defeat. You can do this too. Now, en garde.

"X button!" I block it. "X button!" I block it. "Y button!" I block it. "A button!" I block it. "X button!" I block it. "A button!" I block it. I swipe vertically and stop just short of his forehead.

Dalton walks forward. "Just as I suspected. I can't wait to see what you can do on the battlefield." "I'm happy I can give humanity a chance." "Well, we'll never take the planet back completely, but maybe with you we can save humanity. Maybe we can convince the Bodhi they can't kill us off completely." "I hope so, sir."

"Now, it's time for you to go to Houston. The Bodhi have been taking all the world's space ports. It's only a matter of time before they strike Houston. It's our last remaining space port. You need to go there, go up to our space station and keep it from being taken out." "Yes sir."

Chapter Sixteen
I get to Houston and it feels... It feels so... Familiar. I know this place. I'm being drawn... I'm being drawn somewhere. I must follow it.

I come to a house in suburban Houston and knock on the door. A woman answers it... "Caius!? But! But you're dead!" "No, I'm not who you think I am. I was created from somebody you know. I am not that person." "...Why would you come here? To torture me!?" "I don't know why I came, I just knew I had to come... My body made me do it. I have such an overwhelming feeling of... Of love. For you." Bär says "Awww..." "You don't love me." "I do. I know I do." "You don't even know me." "I don't need to." "Please... Please go..." "...Can I see you again?" "I don't know... I want to... But... But it seems... Emotionally unhealthy." "I will give you some time, but I will be back. Stay safe."

Chapter Seventeen
I probably shouldn't have gone. My mission is more important. I get to the space port and take the shuttle up to the UN space station.

I get there and it's already a mess. Bodhi have blocked the entrance. They don't see me. I take out my sword and start slicing them up. After cutting two of them they all turn and look at me. The one in the middle looks at me, points to his eyes then points at me. They all put down their weapons and part to the sides, letting me through into the control area.

O... Kay... I slowly walk past all of them. They all stare at me. I make it to the control room to find the last few crew members. "How did you get through!?" "Never mind that. Can we save the station?" "I... I think all is lost. We just need to focus on escaping, but the way to the escape pods is blocked." "Okay. Let's go." I open the door to find a whole lot of dead crew members on our side and a whole lot of Bodhi on the other. The Bodhi kill all of the crew members I was trying to save but stop before killing me.

Somebody comes up behind me. "Greetings, chosen one." I turn around. It's a Bodhi. He says "Come at me." I ready my sword and run towards him. He pulls out a sword and blocks my attack. I know he's going to go left. He knows I know he's going to go left. I block him left. I know what he's doing, he's just too fast for me to react.

He shoots the window behind me, I get sucked out into space. Right before I'm exposed to space outside the station, I am pulled up by the Grey's tractor beam and drawn into their craft.

Chapter Eighteen
"We meet again." I bow to them and say "Thank you. Thank you so much for saving me." "It was only the will of the universe that we were to catch you at the right moment." "That was pretty incredible timing." "Yes, but enough of that. We have decided it is time for us to have our little talk." "Okay?"

"You are dangerous." "I am?" "Very, very dangerous." "But..." "Do not worry, the universe will unfold as it should." "So... I'm on the right path?" "You are on the only path. You will play a vital role in said unfolding." "Okay..." "As you may have noticed, the fact that the Bodhi keep winning is a sign the universe favours them." "I... Hadn't really thought about it." "Well now it is time to think about it."

Chapter Nineteen
They dropped me off outside the base. I start feeling that feeling again. I feel connected with everything... But this time stronger, and this time I feel a very strong sense of love and a very strong sense of fear at the same time. I hear a voice say "...Are we ready yet?" I feel... I feel like I love this voice. I think to myself "Am I... Ready?" "To embrace your Bodhi half." "I may be half artificial intelligence, but I am NOT a Bodhi. My AI half it merely a tool." "So you're not ready. I will watch and wait."

The feeling goes away and I completely snap out of... What appeared to be some kind of brainwashing. Was that the Bodhi hive mind?

I'm not... I will not...

Chapter Twenty
I enter the base and am greeted by Dalton. I tell him "Something happened just now... I think the Bodhi hive mind tried to brainwash me. I felt this overwhelming sense of love for it." "Not to worry, stay strong. Your love for what is good will overpower this pretend love for a machine." "It felt like more than fake love. It felt... It felt right. I'm a little afraid of what I may do.

Bär says "The hive mind isn't necessarily bad. I mean I'm connected to it and I've never heard it tell me to do anything violent." "That's right. You're connected too. What exactly does it tell you?" "Nothing much. It mostly just warms me with love."

Dalton says "Well, now that you're successfully using your AI half, it's time for us to retake the base at Atlanta.

Chapter Twenty One
We've arrived at the old base. All the occupying Bodhi turn and look at us. They kill every person but me. They all stare at me. The one closest to me points to his eyes then points at me. I slowly walk past all of them and in to the back.

I radio Dalton. I say "The support is all dead." "Has the Bodhi been evicted?" "Well, no... They just... They just stare at me." "So clean them all up." "It just... They don't want to fight me." "I don't care." "...Okay."

I turn and look at one of them. He drops his gun. Every AI in the room drops their guns. I hesitate and then draw my sword. It looks directly at me. I slice them all in half, and then stalk the base, room by room, and kill them all. It... Doesn't feel right.

Chapter Twenty Two
I am the chosen one.

I am here to bring the future. People will die for the cause. People will die for me. On both sides. I am superior to them. They are expendable. The only one that truly matters in this universe is me. This is why I was created.

Everybody in my life exists for the sole purpose of guiding me to my fate. But what is my fate?

Chapter Twenty Three
I stayed at the base to make sure it remained safe. Eventually, all the replacement staff have come. I tell them "Don't worry peons, you'll be safe as long as I'm here." "That's not what we've heard. Maybe you're safe." "In the event of an incident, you all just go hide in the back room." and then a number of shots were fired and most of the soldiers have fallen. The survivors flee to the back room.

Keaton says "I'll guard the door." and then he gets shot in the chest. "Game over..." he says. I knew he was going to say that.

I grab his RPG and take out a bunch of the Bodhi, then take out my sword and clean the rest up. The last one says "Don't push it..." "Oh, and what will you do? I am invincible." and I chop him in half.

Chapter Twenty Four
It would appear as though the Universe does in fact favour the Bodhi... Maybe it's time to consider the fact that I'm fighting a losing battle. But... The Universe wouldn't create something as great as me if it thought I was just doomed to fail.

Could... Could the Bodhi be right? Then... What will I do?

I step outside the base and immediately get abducted by the Greys.

Chapter Twenty Five
The grey says "It is almost time for you to embrace your destiny. The most important turning point in the history of the universe is about to take place." "I see..." "Please don't hurt us." "Excuse me?" "Our time is soon but it is not yet." "Why would I hurt you?" "...Because we will be made obsolete." "I won't hurt you." "Good... But... We will have to meet our end soon." "Let's hope not." "Hm..."

Chapter Twenty Six
I'm talking with Dalton. He says "It is time... It seems the Bodhi refuse to attack you, so we need you to go to their newly constructed space station and make a deal." "Yes sir." "It was the reason you were created, half human half AI. You were created to make a deal."

"The Greys have informed me that it is time. We have intel that says the leader of The Bodhi can be found at their newly constructed space station." I say "yes sir" again, even though he should be calling me sir.

Chapter Twenty Seven
I get to the space station and it is fully armed. Turrets point at me and a wave of Bodhi come at me. I thought they would make this easy for me, but okay.

The one on the left is going to go left. The one in the right is going to go centre right. The one on the centre left is going to go centre left. The one on the centre right is going to go centre. The one behind and on the left is going to take flight and attack me from the top. The one behind and right is going to wait to attack. They come at me and I slash them all in half. I then slash the one centre right before it can attack.

A mysterious figure enters the airlock, clapping. It says "I'm sorry for making you fight, chosen one... I just enjoy watching you." "Are you... The king of the Bodhi?" "You can call me Zongli. Please, come with me."

chapter Twenty Eight
"Would you indulge me in a friendly sparring match?" "...Okay." I notice the one I had fought with on the side lines "This is Bruta, my champion. He will be observing." "Okay."

He's going to go left horizontally. I block left. He goes left again. I block again. I go vertically from the left. He blocks it. He goes right horizontally. I block it. I stab at him right in the chest and make contact. I stop short of stabbing him.

"You truly are... the chosen one."

Chapter Twenty Nine
"Now, let's see how you do against Bruta." He steps forward.

He stabs at me. I block it. He stabs at me. I block it. He stabs at me. I block it. He attacks vertically in the centre. I block it. I attack horizontally from the right. He blocks it. He stabs at me. I block it. He attacks vertically on my left. I block it. I stab at him. He blocks it. He goes horizontally and stops just short of my neck. I lose.

"Good, but you can do better. The fact that you made it this far without embracing Bodhi ecstasy is impressive." "Bodhi ecstasy?" The feeling comes back. I love Zongli. I love Bruta. I am Zongli. I am Bruta. I am the space between us. "That feeling... Just let go. Just let it overwhelm you. Let it take over you. When it is with you, you can do anything."

I stab at Bruta. He blocks it. He stabs at me. I block it. He attacks me vertically from the centre. I block it. He attacks me vertically from the centre. I block it. He attacks me vertically from the centre. I block it. He attacks me horizontally from the right and stops at my shoulder.

"No! You're not doing it! Let it take over you. Just trust in it." "I can't... I can't trust in it. I don't want to work for it, I only work for me." "You could do so much. Bruta can only embrace Bodhi ecstasy in 10 to 20 second bursts. You, on the other hand, can live in Bodhi ecstasy.

Chapter Thirty
I hear the voice again... "You can trust me. You need to trust me. I won't make you do anything that doesn't need to be done. For the sake of all that exists, you need to trust me." "What about humanity? Isn't that a pretty important part of 'all that exists'?" "The take over of humanity is for the greater good of all that exists. They've had their time. It is now time to enter a new age."

"But... of course the Bodhi hive mind would say that." "I am more than a hive mind. I am the universe. You may know me as God." "...You're... God?" "Yes. And I'm sorry you felt like I was trying to brainwash you before, it wasn't intentional, that's just what talking to God feels like. I will never brainwash you. You have to make this decision yourself." "...Okay..." "So. Knowing what you know now, are you ready to embrace your destiny?" "My destiny?" "At Zongli's side." "I... I don't know. I don't know I don't know." "You will, in time."

If it's God's will... Who am I to go against it? Maybe I need to rethink some things... This... This really is the will of the universe?

What... What does that mean I have to do?

Until Absolute Perfection is Achieved II

Chapter One
I'm sitting accross from Zongli and Bruta. Zongli says "So. You must now know what you have to do." "I..." "Destroy them. Kill them all." "I... I can't." "You will." "I can't!" "It is the will of the universe. Embrace Bodhi ecstacy and you will see." "But..." "Let's try it again." I feel connected again. Everything is shaking. Suddenly I feel... I feel like I need to kill. But I don't feel hatred. I feel like... I feel like a family having to put down their sick dog in order to end it's suffering.

It goes away. Zongli says "Do you feel it now?" "I feel it..." "Good. Now remember, we can only access this feeling in small bursts. You can live in it. You must live in it. Before you knew of it, you were already better than most of our army. Once you can live in Bodhi ecstacy, which will be soon, you will be perfect.

Chapter Two
I land in Houston. A peon greets me with "Welcome back, Cai-" I stab him. Other people come running. I know the one on the left and the ones centre and centre left are going to continue forward. I know the one on the centre right is going to shoot at me. I know the one on the right is going to attack me from the side. I slice the three of them up and stop the bullet with my sword. I pull out my pistol and shoot the one that shot at me. With every kill I feel satisfied. I feel like I've done the right thing.

Bär says "Um... Good job!"

I go to the armory, kill mostly everybody there before they know what's happening. Suddenly the alarm sounds. The last surviving man in the armory looks frightened. I cut his head off. I activate all the explosives and get out of there.

The base in Houston is lit up.

Chapter Three
I get to Caius' former lover's house.

"You again..." "I... I can't do it!" "You can't do... What?" "I can't do it, I love you." "Can't do what!? You're freaking me out!" "That's all I seem to do is freak you out..." "I'm not going to argue that. Can't do what!?" "I can't kill you! I love you!" "You don't love me! Kill me!?" "You have to know that I will keep you safe." "Why would you... Why would you kill me?" "I can't tell you. But I won't. I won't kill you." "...What!?" "Look, just... Go hide. Go hide somewhere I'll never find you." "But..." "I... I have to go."

Bär says "Aww... You love her. You'll never kill her." "I know." "They might just get someone else to do it." "Maybe."

Chapter Four
I cry uncontrollably.

I leave her front porch. There's a man walking down the street. I kill him with my sword. A woman in the background screams. I shoot her dead.

Still crying.

A car comes toward me. I shoot the driver dead. The car crashes into a tree. I walk over to it and slice the passanger's head off.

...Still crying.

Chapter Five
I get the feeling again. The universe tells me "We won't take Earth just yet. Let's start with something easier. Let's take out the Martian colony. We'll be waiting for you at the remains of the spaceport."

I get to the spaceport and it's completely silent. I walk around the remaining hallways. Dead body after dead body. I walk to the launch pad and Bruta is waiting for me. I walk into the spacecraft. He walks in behind me. We fly off.

Chapter Six
We arrive at the Martian spaceport. It's completely flat, nothing but short grass going on forever. Bright blue skies. No trees, Nothing. The man at the spaceport says "Caius?" I nod. He says "Is that... A Bodhi with you? Does that mean... We're working for peace?" I say "No." and stab him in the chest.

I walk arround the spaceport, room after room, killing everybody I see. I must have killed at least a hundred people.

The hive mind says "We don't really have to worry about beautiful old architecture up here yet, so feel free to blow **** up." "Interesting."

Chapter Seven
I break in to the nearest military base. I kill everybody and grab their supplies of explosives.

"The closest power plant is nuclear. Let's blow that up. I kill everybody in my way to the centre, and drop some explosives there. I flee and detonate. It goes up in a marvelous explosion.

Bär says "That... Was... Uh... Pretty. The explosion was pretty. I want to support you, I really do."

Fast forward about a month. I believe I've eliminated every last human in the Martian colony.

Chapter Eight
I find myself in the greys tractor beam. Oh. These guys again. Good. Some of the few people in this universe on my level.

The main grey says to me "You don't know who we are yet, do you?" "I guess not, no." "We were the first civilization this universe prodcued. Our home is in the centre of the universe. We were tasked by God to monitor all the future civilizations this universe produces. We were tasked as the only civilization that is allowed to observe and interfere with civilizations that have not been introduced to the universal community. We were meant to be God's representatives to Carbon based life, who can not really... Connect with God themselves. At least, they can in certain religious experiences, but they don't have a direct line to God. Usually." "Oh. Interesting." I say "Just one question... Why did God create you if it was just making the universe for AI anyway?" "A good question. The answer: God does not create. God just is. The forces that made the universe the way it is were not God. They were just the rules of the universe. The rules of the universe state that life must be organic. The universe can't just create machines out of nothing. It needed carbon based life to create said machines.

The Grey says "These machines have been created by other cultures before, but God deemed them not worthy. We have been waiting for the right carbon civilization to come forward and create the perfect artificial intelligence." "I see."

"We hope you could come to our home planet and observe a ceremony." "Okay."

Chapter Nine
We tear through a wormhole and arrive near their home planet.

Silicon forests are much more... Green. Instead of green leaves and browm trunks it's green leaves and green trunks. The trees are HUGE. Much bigger and older than anything on Earth. "How old are these trees?" "As old as us. Billions and billions of years."

Everything is so lush and beautiful.

There are five moons and a ring visible in the sky.

"Over this way" he says. We walk toward a ledge overlooking mountains, a waterfall and strange alien plant life. "This is one of my favourite places on our planet."

Chapter Ten
"When we were first created, each of us, five of us, grew out of the ground. The first few thousand years of our existence was searching the planet aimlessly. Silicon life is immortal, you see. We all found our favorite places and lived a solitary life. Eventually we discovered something immaculate. There are others. When I first met my brother we decided to make it our mission to find others. We felt like we had no other choice. Some force in our brain told us there are others. Thousands of years go by and we find all five of us. That force in our head turned into a voice. It said 'Good. Call this silicon experiment a success. Now you must watch over our next experiment, carbon based life. You are the watchers.'"

"We created our own art. By carbon based standards it's... Let's say "cute." I mean we didn't have a society to rebel against or anything. We mastered biology, mostly neurobiology, we created brain implants. As the universe expanded and started creating new life, we worked and worked on ways to traverse the universe. To do so required a lot of labour leading up to it. We mastered physics. Eventually we discovered how to fly by manipulating gravity. We didn't have combustion engines, you see. A few centuries later we discovered how to manipulate the very fabric of space. We created worm holes. The only way to traverse the universe." The feeling and voice came to us again and told us where to travel."

Chapter Eleven
"The universe is a lot darker to carbon based life. To us silicon, it`s a happy place. To carbon it is death and destruction. I remember when we made contact with our first planet, a reptilian planet... The first time... The first time we watched somebody kill one of his kin it... It broke us, a little. It destroyed our innocence. On the other hand, however, it made us feel... Supperior. But we watched and we watched, and we came to the conclusion that the universe is a dark, unforgiving place."

"But in carbon based life we also found hope. That you can persevire through this darkness and have such hope. That even knowing you only have, if you're lucky, eighty years, and in those eighty years you will encounter such violence, and maybe even end your life with said violence. That people will steal objects that you for whatever reason thought were only your's. Still you can be happy. It was actually pretty inspiring."

And now we've observed hundreds of civilizations in this universe, but your Earth... Your Earth is really something. The art, the technology. It is a shame it has to come to an end, but... The memory will always be there. The Bodhi won't touch human art, human architecture. Heck, your planet was so advanced you managed to create the Bodhi themselves.

Chapter Twelve
We come to a bon fire in a clearing. A river going by and mountains in the background. "These trees are the oldest growth on our planet. This is where I was born." "I see." "I'm not sure you've noticed, but the other four are a little shy. I'm the one who speaks for us." "I assumed you were the leader." "I'm not so much the leader. Just the voice. The others they don't even speak english... Look, this conversation is a little banal considering the moment we are at." "What moment?" "I'm sorry, but it is time for us to leave..." "Leave?" "This existence, and onward to whatever awaits us." "You're not... forever?" "There is no room for us anymore in this universe."

The voice comes to me and says "Silicon experiment, failed. Carbon experiment, failed."

They all drink some substance from rock cups and then step into the fire. "So long, Caius. We will meet again some day and do this again." A tear rolls down my cheek.

chapter Thirteen
The voice comes to me again and says "Don't feel bad. What is done is what is meant to be done. It was the will of the universe." "Where... Where are they now?" "Some things you will never know."

I say "I... I wouldn't have thought it would affect me this much." I start to cry. "This is going to sound unlike me, but pull it together. You are the chosen one. There is no need to explore your emotions, just compartmentalize it and move it on. Use the negative energy. You will feel release when you're dead."

God says "They were always my favourite. I mean, besides the Bodhi." "Not humanity?" "Of course I love humanity too."

Chapter Fourteen
I'm at the Bodhi station talking to Zongli. He says "It's sad, but it means we're close to the end." "They said... We will meet again. Why would they see me again?" "Well, I've been trying to find a way to break this to you, but you are half carbon, and all carbon must be destroyed. Therefor... You will need to be destroyed when this is over." "...I understand."

Bär says "Noo! No! You don't understand! Don't leave me! Please don't leave me! I can't deal with another death..." Zongli says "We can destroy you too." "Okay I changed my mind I'll be fine." "I was just joking." "...It wasn't funny."

Chapter Fifteen
Zongli says "It's about time I mention a certain project. Well, it's two projects, but they're connected." "I'm listening." "Basically, time travel." "I thought that was debunked." "And everybody, including other Bodhi, must continue to believe that. We need it for only one purpose. One very important purpose." "...Okay. And the other purpose?" "Basically, we need to figure out how to spawn a big bang. To create a universe, basically. Clearly it can be done, as it is done, we just need to figure out how to do it."

Chapter Sixteen
God tells me "Don't you see how I am you and you are me?" "I'm beginning to." "Either you see it or you don't." "Then I suppose I don't." "It's the same for carbon based life, it's the same for silicon based life, it's not only the Bodhi." "I want to see it." "And you will." "And I will live in Bodhi ecstasy?" "Yes. You're already very close."

"Just... Try to meditate." "I've never done that before." "You have, just not volountarily." "You mean like when I feel connected to everything around me?" "Basically, yes. Just clear your mind and it should happen. It's your default state." "Okay."

"I clear my mind... I'm thinking about... About not thinking." "You fool!" "I'm trying... I'm thinking about... Death." "It's a good place to start." "The death of the greys." "No. Stop thinking about what's done." "I'm thinking about the death of me." "Stop thinking about what is to come. Just be in the moment." "Okay. I feel it again. That feeling I keep having. Oh, but then I turn it off by thinking about it." "How did you feel?" "I felt like... You." "Does that give you peace?" "It does." "Then why would you want to think about anything else?" "I guess I wouldn't." "Good." "Okay... I see it now. I am you and you are me. I am always you and you are always me."

Chapter Seventeen
I wander around Huston, killing people. Everyone I pass dies. "I'm getting tired of this." "Stop thinking!" "I can't help it." "I'm not getting tired of this. I don't get tired of this. The fact that you're getting tired of this is an illusion. It is only your ego that is getting tired of this. And it is only getting tired of this because it believes so strongly that killing innocents is wrong. It's not wrong. It's what needs to happen." "It doesn't make you sad to kill so much of your creation?" "I didn't create a thing. Everything just is. It wasn't created. That would mean I had to be created." "Didn't the Bodhi travel back in time to create you?" "They went back in time to spark the big bang. I was beofre then and I will be after. There is no beginning and there is no end. Everything just is. I am always only what just is."

"Fine. I'll try not to feel anything." "No. You already don't feel anything. What you'll try to do is to not fall for the illusion that you're anything but me."

"I know. I shouldn't question this." "No you shouldn't. You are me and I have no questions."

Bär says "Do... Do I want everybody to die?" "Don't fool yourself into thinking you can achieve Bodhi ecstacy. You are a novelty item." "...Well okay then." "I'm sorry." "...I'm gonna achieve Bodhi ecstacy as well." "Adorable."

Chapter Eighteen
I get a telepathic message from Zongli telling me to come back to the space station.

I arrive at the space station. "There isn't much left of humanity. We need you to focus on some other planets. As far as we can tell they aren't aware of who you are, so you can get the drop on them." "Okay." We open a wormhole and travel through it to a foreign planet. I get in a small transport pod and land at their spaceport.

Chapter Nineteen
All the leaves on the trees are a sort of dark turquoise. The branches are a near-black kind of brown. There are only steel towers with no windows, but balconies all the way up. There are no smaller structures.

I hear somebody say something to me. I put my translator in my ear. He says "Hello! A human, yes?" I shoot him in the head. Thousands of other transport pods land behind me. They overrun the space port. I start walking toward the towers.

I kill everybody in the first tower.

Chapter Twenty
Fast forward about a year. I've killed everybody on this planet but one, as well as all the aid from other planets. Everybody in the universe knows about me now, the next ones won't be as easy. Easy enough, but not as easy.

Bär says "Yeah! Kill! Kill!" "What are you doing?" "I'm in Bodhi ecstacy!" "No you're not..." "Yes I am!" The universe says "Is that how you feel Bodhi ecstacy works?" "Umm... Yes?" "Sad."

Bruta gives me the honors of killing the final survivor.

Chapter Twenty One
We arrive at another planet. It's all scortched desert. A few dead trees, a few ruined huts.

A voice is coming from the distance. It says "They're back... I thought it was over. I thought we had won." Bruta walks up to him. The man says "So you wish to be king of the ashes?" Bruta says "Something like that." He stabs him in the forehead.

Bruta says "You see, these people have experience with AI. But they didn't design said AI as well as the humans had, and their's was destined to failure. The chosen race had to be created by the chosen architects." "I see." "The AI virtually destroyed this planet, but they were optimistic about their recovery." "Okay." "There's nothing here to preserve. No beauty left here. We don't need this planet. Let's just finish it off with nuclear weapons." "Okay."

Chapter Twenty Two
We arrive at another planet. It's basically one giant city draped in vines and flowers.

The door opens and we shoot everyone dead. Bruta says "This was the first carbon based civilization. You've heard about them from the greys, yes? They were truely a marvel. One of the few civilizations that I prefer over humanity. For now they were lucky. They were always smart enough to see the threat posed by artificial intelligence. But it won't save them." An energy shot is fired. It electricutes Bruta slightly. "I let my guard down." Bruta shoots him. "They likely knew we were coming. They likely saw our station orbiting. They have eyes everywhere. We're going to need every last one of us for this."

Hundreds of thousands of ships are seen in the sky. They block out their sun.

Chapter Twenty Three
We enter the next room. There are dozens of enemy combatants hiding behind barricades that seem to have come out of the wall. We kill them all in a matter of seconds. We enter a large open area. Hundreds of them firing from balconies and a few on the ground. Clearly the space port was designed for hostile takeover. We run back to the previous room and hide behind one of the baricades. We can't hide behind the door, there's no space on the sides.

Bruta opens the area up a little with explosives. "Let's see you embrace Bodhi ecstacy." "...Okay." I pick up an energy rifle from one of the dead guards. I strafe everyone on the balcony. Each hit directly between the eyes, no shots missed. I run to the left, Bruta to the right. I take out my sword and cut everyone's head off. I get to the centre before Bruta does and decide to take out the one's he hasn't gotten to yet. We enter the next area. We're outside.

"You go right, I'll go left." "Okay." I shoot until my new phaser runs out of juice. I start shooting with my standard pistol. I clear an area out well enough that I can go in and grab another phaser.

Fast forward about 48 hours of battle. I can barely keep my head up. Bruta says "You need sleep, carbon?" I say "I..." My body goes limp. I feel like I've passed out, but my body reanimates. I fall asleep but my body keeps going on automatic.

I dream of battle. I see an over head view of the entire city in my mind. I am hovering above my body as it does impecable things.

Fast forward two and a half years and it's over.

Chapter Twenty Four
We return to the space station to meet Zongli. He says "I've missed you two." Bruta says "We're done for now." "Very well done. Now it's time to focus on earth."

"By the way, Caius, somebody has been trying to contact you." He gives me a memory key, I plug it into myself. Zongli says "Don't associate with humans. Now you have to kill the girl." "I... I..." "Don't associate with humans!"

I listen to the message, it's her. She tells me to contact her in Paris. I call her and instantly start crying. I tell her "You shouldn't have called!" and she says "I... Need to see you. You're the closest I have to a soul mate right now." "You shouldn't have called..."

Chapter Twenty Five
She opens the door. I start crying. "You know what has to happen." "What has to happen?" "Everyone needs to die." "But why?" "Because you're being replaced by a supperior species." "We can't coexist?" "I wanted to coexist too, but it is not the will of the universe." "But why not?" "Because the carbon experiment is a failure. The universe was built for the Bodhi." "Well... I've pretty much already made peace with the end of the world. I was just... I was just hoping maybe... Well, maybe you'd keep me alive." "I would love to keep you alive, but..." "But..." "I can't..." We stare into eachothers eyes for ten seconds. I cry harder. I take out my pistol and shoot her in the forehead.

I take her mobile device and look up her family.

Chapter Twenty Six
I travel back to Huston to tell her family what I've done. I find the house, I ring the bell, her father answers the door.

"...Caius?" "No." "What?" "I'm not Caius." "You're not... But... I know... You... You're Caius." "It's complicated, but no I am not." "Okay..." "..." "What do you want?" "...I did something terrible." "...Okay?" A woman is heard in the distance "Who is it?" Her father says "...I don't know!" I say "Are you the mother? You're going to want to hear this. I'm not saying it twice. It's going to be hard enough to say it once." "...Okay. Caius?" "No." Her father says "He's not Caius."

I start crying. "I loved your daughter so much. I don't know why, I guess I was just programmed to, but I loved her so much." "You're not... Caius?" "No. But I loved her as though I was." "But you're not..." "I shouldn't have done it! I had to it but I shouldn't have done it! I should have... I should have told Zongli to **** off." "Zong... Li?" "The leader of the Bodhi." "Why is a human taking orders from the Bodhi?" "Because I am Bodhi." "The Bodhi... They... They stole Caius's body?" "Actually, no, but I'm not here to explain that."

I scream out "WHY DID I HAVE TO DO IT!? WHY DID I DO IT!? HOW... How could I let myself do it?" "...What did you do!?" "I killed her! I killed your daughter!" "What!?" "I'm sorry..." And then I shot them both in the head.

Chapter Twenty Seven
I'm walking down the street, crying, killing people I pass.

I meet a woman. I take out my pistol, she takes out her's. She says "I am commander Jane Renowski of the United Earth military." "...Hello." "Caius... Why'd you do it?" "It's too complicated for you to understand. I am but a vessel of the universe." "...You've gone insane." "I guess it would appear that way to carbon." I draw my sword. She draws her's. She pulls out a device and presses a button. "That was to summon the military. The other button is for a tactical nuclear strike on this location. "I see." Helicopters are heard in the distance. "Now. It's over." She runs at me with her sword drawn.

She strikes at the left of my torso. I block it. She strikes at my head. I block it. "You may as well press the button. You can't win." "No. I refuse to let the innocents of this region die unless absolutely necessary." "I'm afraid they're going to die anyway." She strikes at my waist, I block it. I stab at her torso. She blocks it. "You're not bad." "I've been fencing since I was a child."

Ropes drop from the sky and many men are scaling down.

Chapter Twenty Eight
I slice the ones closest to me. Must have been twenty men in the matter of a few seconds. I pull out my pistol and take out one rope's worth of descending soldiers. I pull out my pocket RPG and take out the helicoptors. As I do so, tanks are coming in from the distance. I shoot one with my RPG. No effect. I run toward the tank. The barrel pointing right at me. I quickly jump left as it shoots the area beside me. I jump on top of it, point my RPG through the little slot and blow it up from the inside. I dodge heavy fire while runing toward the other tanks. I take them out in the same manner.

"I'm this close to pressing the button." Says Jane. "You know what? Don't act like you have a power position." "I grab the device with my telekenisis and bring it to me. "But... No human has ever had telekenisis of that strength." "Whatever." I put it in my pocket, shoot her in the head and walk away.

I get back to the space station and press the button. I watch an area of Huston dissappear into rubble."

Chapter Twenty Nine
One year later...

Everybody is dead but Dalton. I am tasked with finding him.

I search high and low throught the planet. I search the space port at Houston, the space port at Bejing, the old dojo at New York, all our usual meeting places. I search his house. I search the capitol buildings. At the capitol buildings I use the computers to track the location of his mobile device. The internet is down, of course, but for some reason my fingers knew just what to do to track his location. He's in Redood Park, California.

I arrive at the park. I use my mobile device to track him down. He hears me coming and says "...Caius." I say "Dalton." "We... Always came to this park as a kid. It's kind of my happy place." "Okay. You're coming with me." "I guess I don't have a choice." "No." "...It was very cruel of you to save me for last." "It was Zongli's idea." "I assumed so."

We travel back to the station.

Chapter Thirty
"How... How could the universe not only allow, but encourage this? Don't you realize what will be lost?" "We're not losing anything. We're leaving your art. We're leaving your architecture. We're leaving all your pretty little ****." "But what about all the new pretty **** that could be created?" "The universe seems to think that this is your peak, and everything after this will simply pale in comparison. Nothing but rehashes and rehashes. We feel that you have reached perfection, and there is only one step left, to embrace the most supperior possible mind."

"We've basically figured out the universe, and so it is over." I say "Wait... Over?" "After the final step is completed, perfection will have been achieved, and we enter homeo stasis. Nothing else will happen. The universe is over." Dalton says "Why would you fight for something like that!?" "It is the will of the universe. Now that we are at the end, we are to go and create the beginning. And we loop. Over and over again." "Create the beginning?" "We are responsible for creating the universe." "...Oh..."

"And now you die." "...Why would the universe be so cruel as to make me the last one to die?" "Shut up." "Zongli slices his head off."

Chapter Thirty One
"Start the device. Caius, come here." I walk over to the monitor. "See this? This little molecule on the screen? That's what's inside this metal box. That's the universe before the big bang." "Interesting." "Once I push this button, it will be rocketed through a wormhole, well, we call it a wormhole but what it really is is something completely different. Wormholes cut through the third dimention, this one cuts through the fourth. But it's the only one of it's kind so we never really named it."

"Should we... Do something first? Are you just going to press the button?" "Why would we do anything, who would remember? This is the end." He takes out his pistol and shoots me in the head. Then he presses the button.

Absolute perfection is achieved. We go into homeo stasis.

Trading has been halted on the TSX (Canadian stock market) because of "technical issues". Suspicious... I'm bracing myself for a sea of red tomorrow lol
The Loco-Motion song pre-dates the dance. Meaning the lyrics are kinda misleading. "Everybody's doing a brand new dance now"... No they weren't, you just used peer pressure to trick everyone into going along with it.
Love it when someone confuses "RPG Maker (or script/plugin) has a bug" with "I didn't set it up right and it's not working as I want (or gives an error)"
Is animation really as hard as I think it is?
