Hello everyone out there reading this post! I'm new to to the site and somewhat new to RPG maker VX Ace working on my first game. i wanted to do some experimenting, so my question is there anyway to change the opacity on titles, or anything really like NCPs in RPG Maker VX Ace, and if so how can I find that setting and if you can animate it. (like when the opacity changes and for how long) Thanks.

There are a few ways you could do this.

When importing a graphic into your game, it will bring up a window with two color bars.

One will say "Transparent color" (L-Click) and one will say "Translucent color" (R-Click).

Essentially, you can select one color to be completely transparent with the left mouse button

and one color to be slightly transparent with the right mouse button.

Another thing you can do is use a program other than MS paint to draw things using tools

that can create a translucent layer on sprites. But that wouldn't be easy if you can't get your hands

on a program like that.

There's also the "Animations" tool in your Data bar that you can use various graphics in a "flipbook"

style mini-animation. By inserting a graphic there you can right click it and fool around with the "opacity"

setting to change the effects.

I'm not sure that any of these would get you the exact result you seem to be looking for, but it's a good

start to play around with. Hope I could be of use to you. :3

RMMV
I'm not sure those suggestions would be the best. It depends on what you are wanting done. If you are wanting a complete tileset with a different opacity, I personally would open it up in Gimp and use the layer opacity setting to change it to where I wanted it, then reimport it.

If you are wanting a few set pieces to be transparent or say, a specific object, I would set it as an event graphic and use the move route command to change the opacity of it.

I'm not sure about VX ace but in MV the Tilemap object uses bitmaps and bitmaps have the opacity property. Ace could be completely different for all I know but I'm sure it's doable in MV.

Yay, now back in action Happy Christmas time, coming back!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...

Kind of gives a very different feel. :LZSexcite:
To whom ever person or persons who re-did the DS/DS+ asset packs for MV (as in, they are all 48x48, and not just x2 the pixel scale) .... THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!! XwwwwX
