Now, before you call me insane, a little background:

I moved to Canada 10, almost 11 years ago so I grew up eating the little pieces of heaven.

However, one thing I noticed straight away was that the Oreos up here tasted significantly different from the ones I was used to back in the States. So much so, that I basically stopped eating them.

I bet you're wondering: How could there even be a difference?! Canada is the 51st state anyway, and a cookie is a cookie.

Well, know the bargain Western Family (or whichever else you may be used to) brand you'd get for a fraction of the cost, and that tasted like little pieces of fake chocolate with a disgusting filling? That is what Canadian Oreos taste like. If you even have the chance/means, do your own taste test...but they are one of a few things I've noticed that are significantly different up North (Twinkies are another; much drier up here).

Anyone else have anything else that tastes different in different places they've been?

Yeah, I think that's due to some contraband ingredients or something? Mountain Dew is a similar story.

I can't eat any localization of british chocolate (or most Canadian choc. actually).

It's the type of sugar used.  It's the same story for bottling companies that use coca cola products.  The food and drug admin there allows unrefined sugar, which tastes different from refined.  Pure sugar soda was introduced recently to us as "Coca Cola Life" and tastes like gravel.

Actually, when you look at the ingredients on the back of the package, they're slightly different. At least in the states (not so sure about Canada now that I think about it) you have to list the ingredients in order of weight; whichever there's more of basically. On the Canadian Oreos it lists Sugar then Flour. On the American it lists Flour then Sugar. However, the American uses Palm and/or Canola oil, while the Canadian lists simply Vegetable Oil.

It's kind of interesting, to be honest.

I've also have the 'pure' sugar sodas. What does it say about me that I prefer the ones with HFCS? lol

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
