@Nocturnic  Hmm, another plugin may be conflicting with Basic Shadows. You may want to try to place the Basic Shadow plugin above any other plugin you are using in the Plugin Manager. Click on and hold the Basic Shadow plugin in the Plugin Manager, then drag the plugin to the top of the list, save the project and run the game. If you are still getting the error after that, hit F8 and either copy-paste the error text or take a screen shot so I can see where everything is blowing up (also a list of the plugins currently being used in the project might help).

I blanked out the project title of my game but here you go.

@Nocturnic Humm ... I cannot recreate the error. Beside the Analog Move and Save Event Location plugins, are there any other plugins and/or custom code edits that you are using? I apologize if that is a long list, but I downloaded and added Analog Move as well as Save Event Location and everything appears to be fine.

Here's the load order.

@Exhydra I think the shadow's clash with Orange Overlay plugin
Seems like the ground layer of his plugin overlaps the shadows
would be great if this could be fixed!
Thanks.

@Nocturnic Thank you, I'll grab the plugins and take a look where everything is blowing up.

@RequLz Actually the shadows normally overlap the tile layer (but are below star tiles). This is an issue I have not found a solution to yet, unfortunately.

EDIT: Added the JSON Data Compression plugin to the main post. Also added the Project Backup plugin.

EDIT II: I am entering a game jam (perhaps two), so I will be a little slow providing updates for the next few weeks.

Hi,

first of all - thank you for your nice plugins!

I just tryed out: Character Control - Bush Options.

exaCharacterControl setBushOpacity target opacity | works well for all members (leader and followers)
exaCharacterControl setBushDepth target depth | works only for the leader. I can't make it to work for my followers though :-/

I tryed to locate the problem, I read the code but I couldn't solve it myself.

Now I'm asking for some help :3

@Dendibar Oops... small coding error on my part. I have updated the plugin in the main post ... everything should function correctly now. Thanks for catching the error!

Is there a way to turn off ALL the shadows at once?  Like a switch or something?  So you can add the option to the option screen for the player to decide?

@firestalker If you want to hide all the shadows, you can use this script call.

// Hide
SceneManager._scene._spriteset._bsShadowBase.visible = false

// Show
SceneManager._scene._spriteset._bsShadowBase.visible = true

Once I get some time, I'll program in a better way for hiding all shadows. But for right now, that should work fine.

The shadow plug in is so cool. Can't wait to see what your visual equipment plug in is going to be like!

Hi @Ossra, thank you for your work. I have yet to check everything and this message is just to let you know that in the "BasicShadows" plugin, the shadow doesn't show on areas with "bush" activated. (this is not a big problem and easy to avoid, especially for people doing parallax mapping, but I thought you'd like to know.)

I can feel a slight performance drop with that plugin even on a pretty powerful computer, so I tried on a low end machine and indeed the performance drop was quite important with some shadow-sources and events. (of course I tried to set a very low number in "Blur Quality" to be on the safe side.)

It seems to come from the fact any new source is potentially casting a shadow on every event on the map (even when "out of reach" and 100% transparent is it still here?), it gets way better when we turn that option OFF (ignore events) in the plugin parameters.

I read the instructions to see if there is any way to cherry pick the events we want the shadows to appear on, but I don't see any option, it's only the player+all events OR the player alone.

Yet, I like the idea of easily affect every single event, maybe it's still possible to keep that behavior with some kind of "proximity analysis", only turning the shadows ON when an event gets close to the source/radius. Otherwise, a comment like "receiving shadow" in each event we want a shadow to appear could do the trick.

Another little thing I spotted, once you turn the option "IGNORE EVENTS" to "TRUE" (to improve performances), you can no longer use the "comment call" to setup a shadow-source in any event and have to rely on a plugin command or event note.

And I was thinking, why not adding an "altitude" value for the shadows too? Would be quite nice to have for example a light close to the ground casting a very long shadow. But it's already very good in that state.  :)

Hi there!
Using your extra options menu.
How do i put the option to choose the variable or the switch?

This way: 'variable' or variable
?
If one of them are corret, then i guess maybe has some conflict with the an variable that have the same id as a switch (even if one only of them are in the parameters plugin)

Is there a way to fix shadow layer priority? It's casting over places that it shouldn't.

├─<required> targetId

├ Value(s) ► -1 (player), 1 and above (event), exaP (entire party),

├─<required> boolean

Anyone seen Dsiver around?
I wish character bust packs had options for both side-facing and front-facing for the same characters.
Looks like I'm going to have to cancel another game.
