Not sure how to title this, but what I want to know if this is possible:

You are outside and the house looks like this:

When you walk into the house it looks like this:

I mean this is a extremely rouch example, I would make it better if it were possible.

You could do what I do if you'd like:

That's how I like to make my houses! :)

You might want to look into overlay mapping.  Such as, you design the home like you have in the second image, make the roof on an empty map and screen shot it, take it into an image editor like Photoshop or GIMP and crop the image to the roof itself.  Using an overlay script, have the roof appear over the home during gameplay when outside of the house.  When they enter the door, have a switch be toggled that make the opacity of the roof overlay go to 0 so it turns invisible and the inside of the house can be seen.  When they exit the door, the switch is toggled back to it's original state to make the roof reappear by setting it's opacity to 255.

Yes, this is complicated, but it's pretty much the only way you're going to get the result you want.

Yours seems to be multiple maps itself though right? DJ Dark has it right.

There's a script for this, I just don't remember the name.

basically, you can use Show picture + maybe the Fixed overlay script... to show the roof... then once you go inside, remove the picture... if you go out, show it again...

@monkey - it's really unappealing... + he wants the roof to be visible when on the outside, completely invisible while on the inside

An easier way to do this is to have both maps as they are. (kinda.)

you start outside and you walk up to the door. The door is an event that has a transfer command with the Fade set to none. The second map, the interior, will have you where the door was previously. The event there will be a conditional branch, where it activates when you face down.

I will provide some pictures to show you the basic idea.Shot 1.pngShot 2.pngShot 3.pngShot 4.png

The first and second show the two maps. The third and fourth show the events for the first and second respectively.

both transfers MUST have Fade turned off to get the effect you desire. This is simple, quick, and doesn't require any scripting.

This is, of course, extremely basic.

Actually, there are possible problems with that...

1) What if you have an event on the outside that changed it's state before you went "in"? The event on the "in" map will of course reset... now you can of course do something to keep track of those changes, but it can be really long if you have lots of things going on in there...

2) It means you need a NEW MAP for EVERY HOUSE IN THAT MAP... so if I have 5 houses in a map, then I need 5 Extra maps...

and so on...

Doing it via overlays: You only need to keep track of the pictures

Doing it via multimaps: You need to keep track of every other thing in the maps

In the end, doing that using the multimaps method will just be more troublesome that just using a picture overlay... + if your houses uses the same roof (same graphics, same size), then they can share just 1 image file...

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
