I have forgotten how to change the z value for a particular parallax so that it is above characters/events. Could someone remind me please.

Thanks

you can't do that with a parallax, you'll need a script for overlay mapping.
if I remember correctly yami's overlay script was the most commonly used with the most options

@Andar That would explain why I couldn't remember how to do it by event or script call. I shall now have to decide whether to do this or not as introducing a whole new script just for one map seems a bit of an overkill. Decisions, decisions.

Thanks.

@Kes I use character sheets to achieve an overlay effect, that way you can also add animation to your parallax.

@superkoopa This is for an image which needs to cover the entire map 50 x 50 - which would be one heck of a big character sheet, and I don't think the engine would support it. Though perhaps I have misunderstood what you are suggesting?

@Kes Right! That would most definitely cause some major lag, probably crash RPGmaker trying to import it. The only thing I could suggest is to cut it up into sections, make a few character sheets, with some trial and error you should be able to get the desired effect. This still might affect stability, I've not tried this on a bigger scale yet. Just an idea!

there is no engine limit to the size of spritesheets, but any such sprite will require a lot of RAM and increase the lag on most computers. However Ace was programmed a long time ago, current computers might be able to handle this.

Another way to handle this would be to use a show picture command on a parallel process. Again something that will increase lag but again a lot of current computers might be able to handle that.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
