Like the title says, I'm having problem centering a picture onto a map. I've tried the two most obvious solutions, being setting the picture at 0,0 (upper left corner). That would've worked in MV but it doesn't in RM2K3. Then I tried dividing the picture size by 2 and setting the picture that way, but that doesn't center it either.

I feel like I've tried everything logical I could think of but I can't seem to find where the pictures anchor point to the map is? it seems "kinda... off"?

Does anyone know?

If your parallax picture is the same dimensions/resolution of the map, putting a ! at the start of the name of the parallax image should centre it properly.

Edit: just realised you aren't in MV. I'm not sure about 2003, but it still might work...

Try setting it to 160,120. That's the default picture position when 2k3 boots up, at least for me, and it's always worked in my experience.

@goldrat1
Yeah unfortunally I don't think that works in RM2K3.

@Windyhouser
Hm, That's a bit random but it's worth a shot. Thanks for the input!

Hello!!

You want to use parallax mapping in RPgmaker2003?

Here are two tricks

1º make the images as the same size as the map.
For example, a map of 20x15 tiles is a image of 320x240, so if ur doing a big map, for example, 40x30, the size is double! make it clear, one tile in RPGmaker 200X is 16x16 pixels!

2º Using Parallax and Pictures
As i said bedore, make sure of the image size, and when using that same imagen in the Paralaxx setings, whill be shown on the editor too!
for the Pictures, you need to locate the center of the map, (for a map bigger than 20x15 tiles) how to do it?
You can create an event and save the Screen X and Y coordinates of this event in 2 variables, and use them in the "Show picture" AND make sure to select the "scroll picture with map" option, to stick the picture to the map!

I made a tutorial on how to do Parallax Picture mapping in RPgmaker2003, you can find them on my youtube channel and follow the instructions :)

Just about finished I reckon.
This could probably be an entire thread, but it’s really interesting how replaying a game several years later can change how you relate to a character. I think Tidus from FFX got such a bad rap. I getchu. Completely different reaction as an adult now.
As you see, I still enjoy writing tutorials. Is there anything specific you want to see? (I know mapping and editing/resource making is usually popular, but those are very broad topics)
Well, I wanted to expand player battlers visually and now have 3 sheets and counting for each of my players party.
1. Regular sheet
2. The character has turned stone sheet.
3. Using potions sheet.

Technically the main hero has 4 since he starts with a wooden sword, and I felt that the battler should reflect that until he gets a metal one.

Right back to the RM game dev grind in about 15 minutes. :LZSexcite:
