Hello,
I was using Orange Mapshot to do parallax mapping in MV. Will a similar plugin be necessary in MZ or does the built in picture feature do the job?

Also, how one would go about importing png images from photoshop with the new layering system in MZ?

You can export the map from MZ directly, but I'll be porting Orange Mapshot in order to export the events too.

Hey Hudell,
Is Map Overlay plugin necessary to make parallax mapping work in MZ?

No. Export the image, do your thang, and then bring all your pretty pictures back into MZ. If you're using the VisuStella Core script, you can lock overlays\pictures to the map the same way you'd lock parallaxes by default - just add an ! in their file name.

Great, I'll go get that VisuStella Core Script then!
Hopefully, MZ will handle parallax mapping better than MV.

We still need a way though to allocate the parallax layers like with Orange Overlay in MV which we could set <ground> and <par> for example once we're done making the parallax so then I feel the overlay script is still needed or am I missing something?

That's kind of what I was wondering as well, Netsu. I poked around in MZ and I don't see a way of assigning a png to one of the 4 layers of the map editor.

Yeah, that's a bit of a problem at the moment. I guess you could export ground clutter along with the parallax itself (so everything you want to be below the player is merged with the ground parallax), but it's not much of a solution.

Hrm... Well I tried to export the maps with the built in "Save as Image" command. But... It gets exported way to small and nothing like 48x48p. The tiles get exported as 24x24p...Totally pixelated... That's bad... I made Maps where every part of the tileset was in, so that I can use everything in a graphic program for prallax mapping, but as I said it gets exported way too small. Regardless of the zoom level I used in RPG Maker MZ. Am I doing something wrong, or is that a bug?

@AcoBaco The save as image command works perfectly fine for me. Just tested it. Not sure what could be causing your images to come out all distorted.

Yes it's weird. I tested it too, already and it worked. But now it exports only half the size. Maybe the maps are too big? I just exported a map woth 50x50 tiles. Noproblems there. Now I exported a map with 70x60 tiles... The same problem as before

That's weird. Could be a bug, or something to do with the map dimensions. I really have no idea, though.

Edit: Just tested it with the 70x60 dimensions and I get the same result as you. Strange.

Then its probably a bug, that needs to be fixed. I'll write it in the correct section of the forum. Thanks for validating!^^

I've already ported the Mapshot plugin as a feature in my map editor, but it's exclusive to supporters until next thursday. I'll create a new thread for it then.

Yeah I'm having a lot of trouble with Parallax Mapping... my game has ten maps and it's too much work for one person to do... might just not bother and go with default assets.

I've made a big emphasis on visually representing things to make the game as accessible as possible.

Grimoires will consist of 5 - 10 pages of skills (still finalizing that max number)

Since each actor is able to take multiple actions per turn, each skill will cost 1-5 pages
This prevents more powerful skills from being uber spammed during an actors turn.
Cats are so easy. I noticed the gray one would never nap in the office while I worked, so I put a blanket on the spare chair in here and now she won't leave.
