Parallax Mapping (Work Flow)/Easy Object Shadows/Lighting & Shadows

This is a good place to start if you're looking to learn a little bit more about PSD organization - and how to add a little extra to your parallax maps!

I'll go over...
  • Different Types of Shadows
  • Lighting Effects & Color Dodge
  • Easy Tinting
  • Exporting Properly
  • Easy object shadows (with outdoor lighting in mind)

Future Tutorials

This is not an exhaustive list and I'd love to hear what the community would like to learn about - or even what I could expand upon in this video! :kaohi:

It looks really pretty. In the first video, can you show how it's implemented into MV? Also I would be cool to see how it looks with characters walking on the map. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about parallax mapping.

Updated the post with a new tutorial that shows how I draw shadows/lighting and use color dodging to make it pop!

These are great little tutorials. I don't use Photoshop, but most of these tips and tricks can be easily carried over into GIMP - just requires some tinkering. I've really enjoyed watching both yours and Fallen Lorelei's parallaxing videos. :)

I would like a tutorial video on how to make water effects, for example a lake or even a beach. something simple.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...

Kind of gives a very different feel. :LZSexcite:
To whom ever person or persons who re-did the DS/DS+ asset packs for MV (as in, they are all 48x48, and not just x2 the pixel scale) .... THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!! XwwwwX
