Maybe I am stupid or something but I have setup an even which is a parallel process I think under the contents setup a conditional branch with no else statement and set it for button L being pressed and then I tell it to call a transfer player to *location* however no matter what I do I cant get it to CALL the process no matter what I do the L button refuses to work... What have i done wrong..?

Edit: I have searched the forums and google I cant seem to find anything that explains much most people seem to have this figured out. I feel like im stupid at this point it only makes sense to me from a coding stand point that it should call the action on press.

Please post screenshots of all event pages, we can't help you without seeing what you have done.

There are several things that could have gone wrong, because the condition "button pressed" needs to be checked in a special way - the condition itself only checks the button in the same frame.

so what your saying from what i can understand you cant set up an event by itself to call an action by pressing a button? at least not without calling the event that has the "button press event" first i kid you not just what i said above is what i did you can start a new project make a new event on the map set it to a parallel proc and then add a conditional branch then set it for button L and then under the branch statement add a text input or something im guessing you cant do that im guessing rather then it being a parallel proc you need to call the even before u can use the L button and even then you need to press the L while its being called id imagine at this point..?

try doing the same thing and pressing Q instead of L. You are taking the games L button and pressing it on your keyboard. L button ingame is achieved by pressing Q. If you need a list of all the buttons ingame, press f1 ingame and go to keyboard tab, there you will find it.

@ac19189:

You can do a lot, but it's the details that count and make a certain logic work or not. Yes, a parallel process with only a condition for button pressed would work - but it would also create a lot of lag, which is why most people try it differently to reduce the lag.

And without seeing a screenshot of the event, no one can say which of several possible ways you've used and where the error might be.

That said, from your last description I agree with the poster above:

The button :L is NOT the key L on the keyboard - the controls of RM are designed around the input of a game controller, and the mapping of the controller buttons to the keyboard keys used for them can be set and checked by the player on F1.

It CANNOT be set by the developer, because the mapping is independent of the keyboard layout (different countries have different keyboards, and I really hated it when old american games hardcoded control to ZX because I've a QWERTZ-keyboard)

Edit: ninja'd

Most probably you forgot to save before playtesting, that can cause random effects depending on where what status was loaded

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD

Yay, now back in action Happy Christmas time, coming back!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
