Partially dynamic maps with RPGMaker VX Ace

Hi

After reading about RPGMaker VX Ace I have a question (before I decide if I will use it or not).

I have read that dynamic generated maps are not supported in this version of the RPGMaker.

I have a similar question there though (although slightly different so I'm not sure if it falls under the not supported part or not). Are partially dynamical maps supported?

Here an explanation what I mean with partial dynamic:

There is a map with a small settlement. The player is going into dungeons,... and can buy new houses to be built (predefined locations only, thus if he buys an inn it is always at the same location). Thus the picture of the building on the specific location(s) [city walls have larger areas to span than only 1 locatoin] changes and the entry into the inn is activated (inn is then its own map)

Would such a thing be possible with this RPG Maker version? (Or if it is possible is it also possible to let the player  choose where the Inn is built at ?)

Tnx

It's not entirely correct to say that dynamic maps aren't possible in VX Ace.

They aren't possible in the default engine, but there are several scripts that add tile-swapping-functions. And that is not limited to single tiles, you can swap large areas between maps if you want to.

That said, small changes can be implemented by multiple maps even in default - instead of changing the map, you're redirecting the transfer to a different map.

For more complex solutions, you'll need one of the tile swap scripts mentioned above.

Thanks there. Then it would be a tile swap script for that what I would need (with the number of buildings I have in mind....making a map for each possible situation would be QUITE a lot to do (as the number would raise exponentially with the number of possible buildings).

Are there any free tile swapping scripts or examples in existence?

I've moved this thread to RPG Maker VX Ace support. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

You can always place the buildings into a characterset, then use events to make them appear on the map.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
