Hi there, I'm planning on have a character that will essentially follow the party around as a pet/guest party member but that won't actually participate in battle.

So I was wondering it there was a plugin or wat to do this, maybe something similar to Mr. Bubble's script party guests (although i don't recall if the character could follow you around as well):

I know this might be done through events but would prefer it largely as a plugin, to have an actor follow the party around and appear in the menu (if possible). If anyone knows of a way to do implement this it'd gladly appreciate it, thank you!

Are the guests/followers meant to be behind all the party members?  So if you have 3 party members and 1 guest, that's how they will be lined up, then if you add another party member, you'll have your 4 part members first and then your guests?

Are they meant to show up in any menus or anything, or JUST be visible walking around on the map?

Hi, thanks for asking!

To clarify, I would prefer to have them follow behind the party members, so yes exactly as you described.

And I would prefer if they could show up in the menu, maybe below the characters if its easier or in the sidebar if possible.

However at the least I would like if they could be visible walking around the map behind the party.

Thanks!

What would you do with them if you see them on the menu?  As they aren't actors, they have no stats that you can view, and you can't use items on them or change their equipment.  Is it just to have them visible on the menu so you get another view of who they all are?

It would probably require a mockup of how you would like them to appear in the menu, and what information you want shown against each one (just a picture?  a name?)

Ya, here's a quick mockup of what I would like.

Again, this character would not be in battles but simply a follower who accompanies you.

Thanks Shaz, and yes with the menu appearance itd be just kind of nice to be able to see their face but this is not necessary, in fact if its easier to just have a character follower then I'd be more than satisfied with that, and maybe later on that part can be figured out.

These VX Ace scripts are similar to what I'm looking for in case there's still some confusion.

In Menu (again not completely needed):

Thanks again!

This definitely seems like it could be useful and neat, giving you the ability to have a follower that isn't an effective battle party member but still visibly traveling with you. Makes me think of FF3 NES.

Seems to be it'd also be related to the notion of showing more than your battle party trailing behind, too, but I don't want to coopt the thread. :)

I'd like to do this for you, and expand it a bit as well ...

Events can have followers as well

You can have more than one guest following you

But it would be difficult to show that in the menu.

I really think it would be quite easy to do, but the menu part is what's going to slow it down.

In Ace, there where a Script from Mr. Bubble, whit even a Conditional Branch Script Call. I would LOVE to get something like this in MV *_*

Would be really awesome to get the same features and even some improvements. So thanks Shaz, for making something like this again <3

This plugin would be GREAT! And really useful for side-quests like "Bring my dragon home" or something like that.

I'm wondering how this would be done.

If you think of the party system by default, it's just a group of actors, and

1. The first person in the party is the leader

2. The rest are followers

Now, I've changed the way the leader is done using Custom Party Leader, but there's a big drawback to my approach: the leader may not be part of the party.

This means if Chimg was the leader, but she wasn't part of the party, you can create an event that checks if Chimg is in the party and it will say she's not in the party. Even though she's the leader!

I could do a similar thing where I maintain a separate set of followers, but you wouldn't be able to query whether those followers are in the party or not using the default event conditions.

I could, optionally, build it so that the "in party" check would also consider the non-party followers?

Hmmm... I think if we could have a party "Leader" as a follower that would be cool, but I wouldn't go out of your way to make it so that the "in party" check would also consider the non-party followers. We could just basically use switches for that, without too much hassle...

Well, it wouldn't be a leader, it would just be a custom follower.

Currently, the only way to check whether a custom follower is in the party is to use a script call

Code:
$gameParty.hasCustomFollower(ACTOR)
Seems easy enough?

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
