New screenshots added from our FMV sequences, we're going with a traditional Japanese water painting style.

We had a choice between black and white, dark colors, modern manga anime, and traditional japanese coloring. I think we made the right choice!

Take a look inside the spoiler!

    Hope you enjoy!!

Picture one? he is performing a death stroke. The blood is actually coming from below him, not above - so no need to worry, his hands are fine. but the enemy below him, he is not so fine! I decided not to post that image as it’s a little bit graphic.

Well the one in blue seems to had fingers in those old mechanical washing machine and never recovered before his death. The style got me at first as I taught they came from an external source.

Wow. This game looks very promising! Keep working hard at it and I'm sure it will be successful.
    What I love:
    • The style is great. It reminds me of Ninjai for some reason (an old web series, if you haven't seen it, watch it).
    • The textures are very well placed!
    • The story sounds interesting :D
    • The music fits perfect

    What I think needs improvement:
    • Fonts. It's been said, but the font needs to not only be readable, it needs to take up more screen real estate as all the menus seem like you don't like them with how small you've made them.
    • Fonts. Never use Papyrus. Actually, you probably shouldn't use any fonts people readily know the names to if you can avoid it at all.
    • The artwork seems inconsistent. Some art seems like the anatomy is spot on, others look like the artist is still very much learning. Across all your images it looks like art from at least 3 different games. Are the assets all made by one person? Even the picture with two characters in it looks like 2 different people worked on that one image.
Watching this thread. Eager to see more!

Thanks for your comments. Yes, we are still in alpha, so a lot of what you see is still placeholder and ideas! Whilst we decide on styling, alot of the artwork is still conceptual.. which is why you're seeing various art styles.

Regarding the font, we're pretty sold on that style, so it is likely there to stay! personally, i like it too!

Also, last thing - you know this is a 1920x1080 game, which is why font might appear small for you? when it is fullscreen, it should look good in all menus. but will take criticism on early alpha demos which i hope to get out here soon. Thank you and hope you do continue to keep an eye on the project! :)

@Kwerty It's a shame that you want a default font to be part of your style. When you're customizing everything else, it doesn't take much to include a unique font (they're pretty readily available, unless I'm missing something and you can't use custom fonts in your maker), and if you create your own font it can become a signiature style (big production games and movies use this trick, the font almost becomes a logo).

I could see that it was a 1080p game (which thrills me to no end) but that's not why I was saying it seemed small. That's why I used the words real estate. The fonts and the menus take up like 20% of the background, which design wise places emphasis on the background. That's ok if that's what you want to do, but it can get a little boring if there's no point to looking at the background. I think it's the same reason someone said the characters seem too small. It's not so much that the characters are too small (heck most games here are made with chibi characters), it's more that there doesn't feel like there's a point to all the surrounding scene. Like if the focus is on the character's story, there should be bigger characters, if there's focus on the scenery, then there needs to be a whole lot more to look at and discover.
That being said, everything I said is probably redundant since it's only in concept stages right now and no where near finished. So let it go in one ear and out the other if you already had it in your minds eye lol.

Your title font looks awesome, but I was referring to the font used for your title screen menu buttons. It looks like Papyrus or an extension of it.

This looks bloody fantastic! I especially love the art style in screenshots such as this which give off a traditional vibe.

Fantastic job! Keep up the great work.

The work continues after a short break..

    What's changed:~

-We've added more songs to the games soundtrack
-Completed the next map (A cliff climbing stage)
    -Fixed a bunch of bugs
    -Built some more custom characters
-Added scripts to animate the main character climbing ropes and ladders as different animation types.

Here's where you can help -- I am wanting to create a journal for the game and require artwork ideas!
If any one would like to contribute to that, do get in touch.

I think this game looks really cool, yes. I love the way the battles look with the detailed characters.
