It's honestly a real shame. I've noticed two entries in particular that have been absolutely slated on the forums but have somehow managed to race ahead in the People's Choice votes. Awkwardly enough, they seem to gain a burst of votes every now and then when they're no longer in first place, and then somehow miraculously stop once they reclaim a safe first place. I do find that somewhat uncomfortable. Especially when some great titles have just a few votes here and there.yeah, the people's choice is a really hard to make fair contest. anomalies in game page basing info only on comments, tweets, fb likes, some games have high votes despite low values of the other said parameters. especially when judging the quality of their games. that's reality.
Reality can be changed!!! /#shamelessplugyeah, the people's choice is a really hard to make fair contest. anomalies in game page basing info only on comments, tweets, fb likes, some games have high votes despite low values of the other said parameters. especially when judging the quality of their games. that's reality.
Don't worry, the contest is hosted by the publishers of RPG Maker... I'm sure the RM titles stand a fair chance at the other prizes.Guessing top 5 are non-RPG Maker.
Including top 10, only 2 ~ 3 games are made by RPG Maker.
I thought the forum can show the power but... well.
If they really want to, they already made the contest as RPG Maker only. LOLDon't worry, the contest is hosted by the publishers of RPG Maker... I'm sure the RM titles stand a fair chance at the other prizes.![]()
I've noticed that as well. It's... Well, it's odd. I mean, I'm not saying it's NOT legit, but it is very, VERY fishy. It's honestly a real shame. (I might sound bitter but I was too late to the party to join. I just have a soft spot for one of the entries in particular.)
Public voting is entirely different from the judge's voting. I'm fairly certain the judges will select at least several RM titles. If they really want to, they already made the contest as RPG Maker only. LOL
I don't think the result will be different on final days. Unless there is a miracle. Holy miracle which innovates everything!
Yeah, but it's also extremely easy to vote using a different IP address. Is it possible to track votes by IP? If people are using the same computer to register fake accounts over and over and over, something like that would weed them out really quickly.
edit: beaten
They need to do that earlier than late. There's no meaning if they did that on the final day of the contest because others already lost their chances and the section will be under chaos by the angry spammer. Better faster than later to make fair contest. They will most likely check IP addresses/emails of votes in top 10 and DQ cheaters at the end.
Just it's finished if someone used Pirate Browser. LoLYeah, but it's also extremely easy to vote using a different IP address.Hell, if someone is so desperate to win they could go to Starbucks, McDonalds, their friends place, use proxies, different wifi, etc. etc.
+1I'm not sure if this could be considered bad sportsmanship, but do you think it would be acceptable if we posted the name of the games you suspect are cheating (provided you have solid evidence or at the very least very strong reasons to believe someone is cheating) ?
IP checking is not an efficient method of checking for fake votes in itself because of proxies and other various ways to get fake IPs, so I'm not exactly sure how they can check if the winner is legitimate or not.
It's too late to get those systems.+1
This is true. A lot of people always use proxies and such for protection. It doesn't necessarily mean a vote is fake if it's concealed behind a proxy. The only proper way to do this would've been to either eliminate registration altogether for voting or to force e-mail confirmation and put a block on spam e-mails.
As I mentioned, I do find it suspicious that the top two entries keep getting sudden bursts of votes whenever the other knocks them back into second; for instance, one seemed to get about 30-40 votes in about half an hour (made even more suspicious considering it's been slated with the best review on the forums giving it 2/5) and then settled again. Then the other did the exact same, both of them just surfing to the top with a small margin of ten votes in front.I'm not sure if this could be considered bad sportsmanship, but do you think it would be acceptable if we posted the name of the games you suspect are cheating (provided you have solid evidence or at the very least very strong reasons to believe someone is cheating) ?
