Another personal preference thread by me!

So you know how the parameter curves have that little scaling ticks between "Fast", "Average" and "Slow"?

What tick do you prefer, or are currently using? (if you are)

Mine would be 3 ticks to the right of the 'g' of the word "Average"

This really isn't a support topic unless you're asking for help with something about the curves?

Anyway, it depends on the class for me. I have an Earth class that have high physical defense so I tend to move the growth of the defense curve toward the faster side.

My summon class comes with higher agility and luck so they go higher while defense and HP growth goes on the slow side. I try to keep it halfway between slow and average. Anything more can look pretty extreme in terms of growth across levels.

I like linear growth. And that's pretty much about it. I don't like exponentials because it makes much more of a difference between levels, so it makes more probable that the player will have a lower level range to pass the game. Or pass certain stretches of it. But that's just because I love low-level challenge, so I'm always interested in that, letting the player pass the game without grinding. I try to do as much real content as possible for that reason, instead of fake playtime.

Anyways, this is a preference topic, so there it was mine <3,

I hear ya there.

Anyway, the difference in curve generation between RPG Maker XP and VX Ace really struck me; it took awhile for me to grasp it. I find it particularly odd how Agility and Luck are, by default, twice as high as the other stats. So for my new game (which is very early in development), I quartered the starting values of those stats and made it so they increase slower, to better match the other stats.

And since Attack and Defense are almost universally enhanced by weapons and armor, respectively, I made Magic Attack/Defense increase slightly faster, to try to bring everything into a more harmonious balance. It would just seem strange to me for every character to have the same two stats much higher than all the rest.

As for the EXP levels, wow. Speaking of VX Ace, they have the potential to start out much higher, but no matter what (in my experience, anyway), they finish much lower than they did in XP. This made me realize that the entire balance of my second game would have to be different than the first. I've done my best. :)

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
