petrified or stoned status?

Has anyone created a petrified or stoned status in their RPGMaker MV game thats similar to what happens if hercules looked at Medusa and then turned to stone? I'd like to make such a state, and then use soft potions or a de-petrification spell to de-petrify them.


If anyone has created such a state and doesn't mind sharing how they did it, that would be much appreciated.

Just add a Cannot Move restriction to the state.

Thanks! Do you happen to know if that will also prevent the player from being able to select attack, defend, or magic for that particular party member in battle, or can they still select it but it just won't execute because of the frozen state restriction?

I think it will stop them selecting an action. But others can still use skills or items on them.  Cannot Move is the restriction that's applied to the Knockout state as well, so it would be similar.

It does stop them from selecting an action (the actor command menu won't pop up for that actor until the Cannot Move state is cured).


Just as a design thought - I personally like to add huge damage reduction to states like this (can be done using State Features - set PDR and MDR to low numbers).  This makes it so that the actor is effectively removed from the fight while Petrified, but at least is protected from taking lots of damage while unable to act.  It makes the state much more "fair" - a battler is spending a turn to essentially "freeze out" another battler for a while, rather than to effectively kill them.  If you have the state eventually remove with a number of turns, and it's expensive enough, it can even be a fair skill to use against bosses!

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
